4-0 out of 5 stars More on the relationship between security issues and HA
as I was reading this otherwise excellent book, I noticed that there was a very important theme (to my understanding), which wasn't honored enough attention; namely, issues relating to the `Secure Socket Layer' protocol and availability, which directly translates to money coming your or someone else's way.

How does it affect the HA and your web applications architecture? SSL Certificates in a HA setting? . . . etc. All diagrams would present the web farm directly facing the internet!?

I even stopped reading and went to the index looking for it and found that there were indeed two -very basic- blurbs on it on pages 301 and 352.

I know security is a theme by itself, but the relationship between security issues and HA is way too fundamental to simply skim over them. As a matter of fact I would say that number one issue affecting HA is security.

Also the book has a very SA oriented (am I talking about another book already? ;-)) style. I would like to read a little more about `the Physics' of it. For example, cosmic rays' (I am not joking), like neutrinos, influence on the proper/stable functioning of computers is greater than the, comparatively speaking, very anomalous `split brain' types of errors and more on, electric accidents, the effective use of ECC memory. Should it go in the Web servers, too, in addition to the data centers? Why?

Cabling and electromagnetic inductance issues are mentioned in the `Tales from the Field', but I could see some people expecting a more rounding explanation/solution to the `tales'. In the case in which they talk about a java web server people might have the impression that `Java' or its use in a web server was wrong, which
I could tell was most probably not the case, but the use of JSP without specifying the sessions shouldn't be automatically created, which is the default many developers forget.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first edition!
I bought the first edition of this book, and it became so dog-eared from everyone borrowing it that I was about to order another, when I saw there was a secodn edition. This one is even better that the first. If you need action items and you need set-up help for providing the kind of network your boss wants and needs, this is the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book on system/data availability
Very good coverage of HA issues. Many people get a warm fuzzy having one piece of kit that is "reliable" or "redundant".To get substantial gains in availability requires a more complete systems view. This book reviews many aspects, and paths that can be taken towards increasing availability.I heartily recommended this book. ... Editorial Review

Cross-platform file sharing under Network File System (NFS) isso reliable that in most organizations, it works pretty muchunattended. Ditto for the directory services that Network InformationSystem (NIS) provides. Managing NFS and NIS is for people whowant to know more about how NFS and NIS do their vital work, and how tomake them operate in unusual circumstances. Focused on the Solaris andLinux implementations of NFS and NIS, this book is ideal for the Unixsystem administrator who's familiar with TCP/IP networking and everydaysystem administration. The second edition of this book eliminates muchof the programming material that appeared in its predecessor andreplaces it with information on NFS 3, its support of IPsec andKerberos security, and its operation under Solaris 8.

This is a blueO'Reilly book, packed to the gunwales with information of interest topeople in a hurry to optimize their systems and resolve difficulties. It's easy to locate the passage you need via the index or through thetable of contents, and most entries provide a great mix of how-tomaterial (in the form of input-and-output listings) and explanatorytext (expert commentary, often with notes on applicable variations). Ifthere's a command, option, or configuration parameter associated withNIS or NFS, you'll find documentation of it here. --David Wall

Topics covered: Network File System (NFS) and NetworkInformation System (NIS) for Unix machines, especially Solaris (throughversion 8) and Linux (through version 2.2). Auto mounting, security, diskless workstations, and performance tuning are among the manydetails the authors address. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A note from one of the co-authors
Hello, My name is Mike Eisler, and I am one of the
co-authors of Managing NFS and NIS, Second Edition.
I'm writing this note to offer additional information
    to potential readers.

At the time I submitted this note, most of the
customer reviews for this book referred to the first edition.
One of the reviews states that the book is focused on NFS
version 2 over UDP and the old style automounter.
Actually, you'll find the second edition of our book
is more modern. New topics in the second edition
include NFS version 3, NFS over TCP, modern autofs-based
automounters, Kerberos V5 authentication for NFS, NFS Access
Control Lists (ACLs), and client side fail over.

Another difference is that first edition of this book
used SunOS 4.x as a reference for examples. The second
    edition uses Solaris 8.

The second edition provides information you won't find
in NFS product documentation, such as using tools like ethereal
to debug NFS problems. This book will give you the benefit of
insights from people who probably wrote some of the code for
your clients and servers. You may find (and I hope) that
it will save you the trouble reporting a problem to
    your vendor's customer support line.

Thank you for considering our book.

5-0 out of 5 stars NFS, NIS and automounter, a great combonation!
Anyone who has ever administered a network of at least 3-4 servers (if not more) will find individually updating accounts, software and such to be a burden.I found myself in this situation not too long ago, and then I picked up this book, and found the answers I was looking for.

Most Unix admins have heard of NFS and NIS but might not have considered using them together. This book gives a very thorough discussion each topic, how to set it up, how to deal with advanced issues, and how to troubleshoot.Admins will really develop an appreciation for how useful these tools can be, especially when used together.

Though LDAP is gaining prominence, a network utilizing NIS, NFS, and automounter is still a very nice network to administer.Even just learning NFS/automounter is time well spent because it is a service not likely to go away.I really felt this this book was worth the time and money because it really helps the intermediate to advanced admin better gain control of the network (instead of the network controlling him :).Definintely give this book a try.Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars The standard for NFS/NIS
O'Reilly puts out so many well written books and the quality of the authors is usually the highest, and this book is no exception. Both of these subjects are covered in more than enough detail for anyone need to setup NFS, NIS, or both. It is written in such a way that you son't have to read straight through, but can use it as a reference for the information you need. I would recommend this book for anyone neededing a decent to thorough understanding of this topic. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An unified approach to digital watermarking
Digital Watermarking is definitely the first book to present in an unified approach the foundations of digital watermarking. The text is clear and didactic, following Cox, Miller and Bloom's writing style that has been evident in their seminal research papers. Very little previous knowledge on communications and information theory is required to follow the book, and still there is an appendix covering the background concepts on these subjects.
The topics are developed in an intuitive fashion, resorting to geometric analogies whenever possible, and the proposed programming experiments (which are backed up by source code both in an appendix and on-line) allow the reader to develop valuable insights on the concepts. Watermarking with side information, message coding as well as error analysis are extensively developed. A very "juicy" chapter is devoted to the applications and motivation of digital watermarking, covering timeliness subjects such as DVD copy control and the SDMI.

Theoretical issues are left for a tiny appendix, and not much use of it is made throughout the book. This is comprehensible in a book aimed to be an unified introduction to the subject. The notation that has been introduced in the very first papers by the authors is still used and it does not seem to be appropriate to present more elaborated theoretical developments. But again, this is justified when formality is being traded off by insight development and intuitive treatment. As a last critic, since virtually the whole book is devoted to image watermarking, maybe the next editions (I hope there will be more !) of this book should include the word "image" in the title.
This book will certainly boost your understanding about background concepts and shed more light on the overlapping among different research areas in digital watermarking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally!
Finally a good review of this field.I haven't read the whole thing, but what I've read, I like.Well written, good table of contents.I've skimmed the whole book and looked at some of the source code.Code is easy to understand. This is not simply a long research paper or a collection of research papers, it is more like a text book.Glossary is helpful too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Watermarking demistified

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for money
Book is quite helpfull, and ease to understand.
    Some small things missing...

3-0 out of 5 stars It helps some, but leaves room for improvement
This book is worth having for the price, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Some repairs are explained in enough detail, but all too often the pictures shown are difficult to determine where on the chassis you should be working. If you are already very familiar with all of the nooks and crannies, then this may not be a problem for you.

The index is also very weak.Haynes could do a much better job of adding keywords to the index to help find things. For example, my "Check Engine" light came on.The index doesn't have an entry for "Check Engine", or "Light - Check Engine" or similar.I don't recall other examples off-hand, but this wasn't the only example.

However, there is certainly enough information contained in this manual to help you do many repairs.Once I found the section that contained the "Check Engine" information, the instructions were concise enough to help me determine the problem and resolve it.

    2-0 out of 5 stars It's ok...
Lacks depth. Wiring diagrams very limited. I used Haynes before on a Dodge and the book was much better. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

It may seem like a contradiction, but sharp knives are the safest. With a clean edge, a knife is more predictable and easier to control. If you've purchased a top-of-the-line knife, maintaining the quality of the blade ensures maximum value from your investment. This Chef's Choice knife sharpener performs professional-quality sharpening on any knife, from gourmet knives to hunting knives--even serrated knives can be sharpened with this machine. For top-quality edges, there are two sharpening and honing stages, which use 100% diamond abrasives, and a final polishing stage. Each stage uses precision angle guides to create a unique "Trizor-Plus" edge for maximum sharpness and durability, while a magnetic pad collects residue so the machine is easy to clean and maintain. While a sharp knife is indeed a safe knife, it's wise to use caution with your newly sharpened knives, as they'll be sharper than you expect. --Laura Cuthbert ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Razor Sharp
I had purchased a Sabatier knife sharpener some years ago, recommmended by a Bloomie's salesperson/ knife aficionado. The unit had one slot, and kept a reasonable, but not great, edge on my Henckel knives. When I finally mangled my Henckel serrated bread knife to a completely dull edge with that sharpener (silly me), I had a dilemma. My current knives needed sharpening, and I wasn't getting the results I wanted with the Sabatier. I wasn't about to buy a whole new set of knives, either. I read some of the reviews here, and decided to take the plunge with the Chef's Choice.Good move!

The sharpener took my dull knives and brought them back to life, as I would have hoped. My 8" Chef's knife is sharper than when I first got it.I have to be extremely mindful when using it now, as it can slice carrots and lop off a finger with ease.

My serrated bread and tomato knives, which had less cutting ability than a butter knife, are much better after numerous passes through the serrated blade slot. While not what they once were (I have myself to blame, using my old sharpener on both standard and serrated blades), they at least provide some service now, versus none before. I am happy to report that the three-stage process in this model has the separate slot for serrated knives, which is great.

One could argue a moderate set of knives is less expensive than buying this sharpener. However, if you believe it better to use what the pros use, and have invested in world-class knives, as I have, then this sharpener will keep them honed to an edge you will appreciate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dear "cooking for a living"
You obviously haven't a clue what you are talking about.I own two of these, an industrial version for my restaurant and this model for home. The industrial version makes very quick and sanitary work on the 40 some odd knives we invariably have to sharpen. They both do almost as good of a job as I can but in a lot less time.I paid $400 for it (the commercial 2000 version) and it has saved me much, much more than that in both time (for those times I sharpened them myself) and money (for those times I sent them out).

This particular model I have at home (in fact I just ordered another for a friend), and it is a godsend when it comes to removing that particular chore from my life.It doesn't get them quite as sharp as I can get them, but they get closer with every update. The only knives I don't use this for are my many japanese knives especially those with a single bevel edge (such as my usuba knife) and my boning knives (the machine just can't get at the tight angle near the bolster, and I like that to be sharp, funny enough automotive sandpaper stuck to a mouse pad is the best sharpener I can find for that job). The vast majority of culinary professionals will send their knives out to be sharpened, as they don't have the time to waste on sharpenening knives.

Wusthof recommends this particular sharpener for use on it's knives, so there goes that theory.

Oh, and I didn't go to culinary school I studied in France, Italy and Japan in various 3 and 4 star restaurants.

So, in summary, stop trying to insult everybody while trying to elevate yourself, you aren't special, and learn what you are talking about BEFORE you rate something.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal...Recommended By Wusthof-Trident
While most home "sharpeners" merely hone your knives, this product actually crafts a new, razor sharp edge on your knives. The term "sharpener" is a misnomer applied to many gadgets which are, in reality, only honers.Having fallen prey to this bit of deception myself (over the years, I have purchased ceramic rods, grinding wheels, carbide shapeners and a product called The Chantry), I am very pleased to have finally found this no-nonsense , genuine sharpener.I have used this product with "factory new" results on all of my Wusthof-Trident Culinar knives. And contrary to statements posted by another reviewer, this sharpener is in fact recommended by Wusthof-Trident for use on their knives--please refer to their "Comprehensive Guide On Honing and Sharpening" available on their website. One word of caution, though; this product is designed to sharpen knives with approximately a 20 degree cutting edge. Knives with cutting edges less than 20 degrees (i.e., Japanese knives) are probably not suited for this sharpener.Altogether, I highly recommend this product. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The failure of Handel's Theodora apparently didn't faze the composer at all. He told the librettist that "The Jews won't come because it is a Christian story, and the ladies won't come because it is a virtuous one!" It's a great line. He also said that the music would sound better in an empty hall, and whether you accept that or not, there's no question that this late work is a masterpiece. It was also Handel's favorite oratorio, and this is quite simply the finest performance of it available. --David Hurwitz ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The best Theodora? An alternate opinion
While Nicholas McGegan has obviously done much excellent work, I'm afraid I can't agree with the reviewer who said that McGegan's rendition of *Theodora* is the best available. In fact, I'd rate it No. 3, with the new (last year) recording by Neumann at No. 2, and putting McCreesh and the Gabrielli Consort in first place. (And Harnoncourt at No. 4.)

It's revealing to listen to the same selected arias/choruses from each of these three recordings one after another. McGegan's recording sounds like it was done in somebody's living room, with the soloists standing about six feet away from you: there's very little presence to the sound. While that helps articulate the texture (the harpsichord is audible far more than in other performances), the dryness and "closeness" of the sound I find unappealing. On the other hand, Neumann's performance, in terms of recorded sound, is muffled in comparison. The McCreesh recording has a depth -- that "presence" I was looking for in the McGegan recording -- while being crisp and clean at the same time.
McGegan's tempos are fast compared to the other two, bordering on ragged here and there. Partly that's due to the not-quite- stellar quality of his U of C chamber chorus at those tempos. (McCreesh's and Neumann's choruses are noticably better). Interestingly, McCreesh also includes six or so additional recits/arias which aren't often sung but which are certainly worth hearing.
Assuming groups of soloists of approximately the same ability, whether one likes the tone quality of one soprano or countertenor more than another is very much a matter of taste, so I won't comment specifically on individual soloists. Except to say that I was surprised (unpleasantly) by David Thomas's seeming difficulty with some of the melismas and other fast passages on the McGegan recording. I normally like Thomas, so that was a disappointment.
Incidentally, the McGegan recording is also more expensive than any of the others. It's not worth the extra money, in my view.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful melodies; great singing; crisp conducting.
One of Handel's great operas, "Theodora" would work either in concert or in performance. There are many beautiful melodies and the strong conducting keeps things moving along.Lorraine Hunt is one of thegreat Handel singers of our time and is in lovely voice as Theodora; sheperformed Irene (the mezzo role) at Glyndebourne several years ago and wonrave reviews from the English press.Drew Minter and Jennifer Lane arealso very good but Hunt is the star. This would be a great addition to theCD collection of anyone who admires Handel's work. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Sign Building
Along with Susan Hunt's Big Truths for Little Kids, this is my favorite book lately to give to parents whose kids have just been baptized.I do it more for the parents than the kids, though my 5 year old loves this book. It really shows the meaning and value behind the church calendar and symbols, in a lucid manner with nice illustrations.(Its a cutesy story about mice).

It often seems like Catholic I know and read tend to confuse the sign with the destination, while contemporary evangelicals (more Anabaptist than Reformational) throw away the sign all together making it way harder to get to the destination.

Boling's work redeems it all - its a loving labor of 'sign-building!' C.S. Lewis said that the danger for Catholics at their worst is to become like every other religion (superstituous folk religion; syncretism), but the danger for (hyper-)Protestants at our worst is to become like no religion at all! Contemporary evangelcialism -- throwing away or relegating the sacraments to meer memorials, building churches without symbols or even crosses, stripping away all of the church calendar except Christmas and Easter (rescued there, only by Hallmark!), dispensing with all vetsments and mystery in worship -- is becoming Lewis' nightmare.

I also think of Bunyan's allegory of there being 5 gates into Man-Soul: Eye-Gate, Ear-Gate, Nose-Gate, Mouth-Gate, Touch-Gate. We evangelicals (like Bunyan's Puritans) often close every gate except Ear-Gate in worship. In good Reformational fashion, (PCUSA pastor) Boling tries to open up Eye-Gate for us, with a rich, beautifully illustrated glossary of Christian symbols in the back.

Nothing real profound about the book, but such a nice little intro.

Great binding and illustrations the kids will like too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Church Mice
Ruth Boling's words and Tracy Carrier's illustrations combine to make a simple, yet powerful invitation for kids to experience the beauty of the Christian year. Most amazing are the details of Christian symbols on the mice's clothing and the facial expression on these very churchy mice. It's like looking at people in the pews I've known for years! The chart of symbols in the back is great. It would make a wonderful first communion, Sunday School, or Christmas gift. My kids love both the pictures and the text.I heard there is a matching Advent calendar but don't see that advertised here. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This witty, instantly addictive British series could also be calledChaps or Squelchy in the City. Coupling charts the tangledsex lives of a close-knit group comprising "exes and best friends": womanizerJack, hapless nice guy Steve, "strange and disturbing" Jeff, uninhibited Susan, neurotic Sally, and manipulative Jane. Coupling may inspire feelings ofdéjà-view. The obvious frame of reference is Friends (Steve and Susan arethe Ross-Rachel equivalent), but this series also echoes Seinfeld in itscoinage of catch-phrases (although it's doubtful that "the boyfriend zone" willreplace "master of your domain") and plotlines (in episode one, Steve tries todump Jane, who refuses to accept). But Coupling has its own fresh andprovocative takes on relationships. At one point, a furious Susan discovers thatPatrick not only had a videotape of the former couple having sex, but that healso taped over her. An American remake is reportedly in the works. 1-0 out of 5 stars sexual, and dirty!!!
i just don't get why all these reviewers gave this dvd 4 stars or more!!! you can plainly see in the preview (which, unfortunately i have on my "father ted" disc) that it iswatchable if you are at least 21 years of age. it contains just sex, sex, and more of it. don't buy this dvd if you are sensitive to sexual things!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Friends
I read someone's review that said "Friends" was superior to "Coupling".That person obviously does not know good television when they see it.Either that, or they're just brain-dead.Besides, the only way to know when to laugh when watching "Friends" is when the laugh-track comes on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very well done,Easily surpasses mundane US humour
"Copling" is a very smart and funny show from England. It is indeed like lame US "Friends" only with this show you can actually laugh at the writing. On DVD First Season (the only season we have watched so far), there are some very very funny stories and some creative writing.I totally recommend this show to anyone who hates the dismal quality of US comedy shows.Sometimes it is on PBS here but only once a week at 11pm, way too adult for our censorship system, afterall why can't the words for body parts be used here but over in Britian it is OK?I guess they are more mature about sexuality there than here where connotations are all we can look forward to. ... Editorial Review

For years, Milwaukee's Sawzalls have been valued for their outstanding ability to cut through almost any material: wood, nail-embedded wood, steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, drywall, composition materials, hard rubber, cement, brick, plaster, and fiberglass. The Super Sawzall features variable-speed control, with a speed control dial for faster cutting and better efficiency and control over a wide range of materials and applications. The blade is reversible, too, allowing you to cut upside down in tight spaces. For those of you who've grown up with Sawzalls, you'll appreciate the addition of the handy Quik-Lok blade clamp, which lets you change blades quickly without having to use a hex wrench; this feature is especially convenient when you're cutting hard materials, such as steel, a situation in which blades break frequently. There's also a handy quick lever adjustment for the shoe.

We really like this tool's counterbalancing mechanism, which reduces some of the unavoidable vibration found in reciprocating saws. The difference you feel when operating this tool, compared to nonbalanced saws, is significant: the Super Sawzall is still extremely powerful, yet it has a smooth feel. As a result, of course, you can work longer with less fatigue than you can using other, unbalanced saws. Another significant feature is the clutch, which absorbs shock and impacts to the internal mechanics caused by sudden blade lockups (typically encountered during extreme use). While this is unquestionably a heavy tool, it does have a comfortable, ergonomically designed rubber grip that gives you a solid hold. And you can rely on the Super Sawzall to handle the most difficult jobs, either at home or at work. --Tim Block ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars only super when it works
i bought this tool when it first came out and it has broken 3 times under light-to-medium use. i could have purchased a whole new tool by now. each time it has been the same problem, the clutch mechanism breaks. the clutch mechanism is linked to the piston that moves the blade back and forth. the clutch stalls the blade, in the event that the blade is pinched, like when cutting a stud at the bottom plate and the the weight of the stud soon shifts onto the blade, sending all that vibration into your arms. the clutch also prevents over torquing the motor. when it works, it's awesome. now i use my dad's old 4 amp milwaukee. this tool was built to last. i'm not sure why the new milwaukee isn't built like their older tools.
i'll probably switch to a different tool, instead of repairing my not-so-super sawzall again. i've looked at the new bosch, but it doesn't have anti-vibration, like their older models. i've never used the hitachi "swing-action" sawzall or the porter-cable angle-adjust TIGER CLAW. i'll probably go with the HILTI with the "smart motor." so many companies are forgoing quality and adding gadgets to their tools to get people to buy them. i just want quality. now that home depot/rigid owns milwaukee, i hope their quality doesn't drop any futher.

2-0 out of 5 stars not all its cracked up to be
I am a contractor and have used this saw extensively the past 2 years. It replaced its predecessor but has not held up like the first. It's been in the shop a few times for the quick change breaking, and now is having a motor problem that is going to need fixing. The variable speed has also stopped working. It's been small items but they add up. The power has been more than ample, the disconnect cord is very useful, but I'm not sure I'm going to stick with Milwaukee this time.

5-0 out of 5 stars very easy on your hands and arms
This is the best sawzall I have ever used.
there is very little viberation in the tool.
The quick change for the blades is wonderful and very time saving.
I don't know why I didn't buy this saw before. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 16 oz canisters are ok !
I phoned Weber Customer Service concerning the 14 oz fuel canister specification. Customer Service advised me that 16 oz canisters work just fine.

Customer Service said the 14 oz fuel canister specification is due to the "Q" grill. Weber found the heavier 16 oz fuel canister could tip over the "Q" grill. In order to avoid "confusing their customers", Weber recently changed documentation for ALL portable grills so as to specify 14 oz.

Well, let me tell you, I went thru 2 Charbroils which worked but not well. The flame from the burners came back to the inlet next to the regulator. I had had 2 Weber charcoal grills before that lasted many years. $22.00 as opposed to $50.00 seemed like a stretch but I did it. It works so well I can't believe it.I won't bore you with what Iv'e cooked on it, it works great & is well built. My next door neighbor works on million dollar yaghts. Editorial Review

At first glance, Weber gas grills look like something that might be shot into space or driven in a Formula 1 race rather than the sleek cooking machines they really are. This is an understandable mistake, because with its Genesis series of grills, Weber has made the time-honored tradition of outdoor cooking state-of-the-art, virtually putting an entire kitchen at your fingertips and on your patio. The Genesis Gold C features a generous 611 square inches of total cooking area, which includes the primary cooking area, a warming rack, and a warm-up basket. Its three stainless-steel burners supply an input of 39,000 Btu's per hour and provide 550-degree broiling temperatures without wasting fuel. The Genesis Gold C also features a side burner, rated at 10,000 Btu's per hour, that is perfect for creating a side dish to accompany your perfectly cooked main course. In place of the lava rock, pumice stone, or flat metal plates found in most common gas grills, Weber grills feature the company's patented Flavorizer bars, which do not retain dripped fats.Instead, juices sizzle and smoke when they hit the Flavorizers, eliminating potentially disastrous flare-ups and imparting a delectable smoky flavor to your feast.

Getting the grill ready to cook that feast doesn't take long, either. Weber'sCrossover ignition system enables you to effortlessly start all three burners, which have been positioned to heat your food evenly. A dual-purpose thermometerincluded in the front of the grill unit measures the temperature under thedouble-walled stainless-steel hood; it can also be removed and used as a meatthermometer to ensure a thoroughly cooked meal every time. And you won't need toscramble for seasonings (or recipes--Weber provides a cookbook) or use aseparate table while cooking, thanks to several convenient features. In additionto the handy work surface on one side of the unit, a wire condiment basket hangsalong the front of the grill, keeping condiments, spices, marinades, or otherbarbecue necessities close at hand. A wire shelf is situated beneath the grilland stretches the length of the unit, and three wire tool hooks hang below thework surface, ready for your spatula, meat fork, and basting brush. Webernatural gas grills also come with a 12-foot quick-disconnect hose.

With its lid open, the Genesis Gold C measures 61-1/2 inches tall, 69-1/2 incheswide, and 33 inches deep. This powerful cooking machine is easily moved, however, thanks to its crackproof all-weather wheels and locking casters, whichprevent it from moving when you're cooking. While a grill cover is recommendedto protect your grill from the elements, Weber's engineers did take outdoorstorage into consideration and, with the help of entomologists, added specialspiderproof screens to prevent the burner tubes from being clogged by cobwebs ornests.

This grill features Weber's Stop Watch engineering. Now it takes approximately10 minutes to assemble your grill with no more than eight fasteners and a singletool. Weber even throws in the tool. Manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty.--Benjamin Reese ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm in love
I have had many grills over the past 20 years but this Weber is by far the best grill I have ever owned!! The price was great and the free shipping even better. what I love about this grill is you can put your food in the grill get the temp. where you want it ,close the lid and enjoy yourself. The cheaper grills I've had you better be ready to eat, because when you throwthe food onhere comes the fire! Take my advice spend the extra money and enjoy your BBQ'S instead of wandering if you should call the fire department.

Hi, I was shopping for a stainless gas grill, and the prices were coming in around $2000.00 +-. After discovering that a gas line would be toooo difficult to install and that propane would have to be the alternative, I happened to stop at a local retailer, never thought I'd pay retail, so I bought two! The Gold C and the Silver B for each part of the outside. My coousin has one so I have cooked on the Gold, it is a dream and a tremendous value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Weber- by it once!
If you are the type of person who prefers not to spend time replacing rusted grates and burners, there is an option out there that is just as satisfying as replacing your homes moldy siding with new vinyl.

I've had a few grills over the years and have worn them all out.I finally got fed up with replacing rusty cast iron grates and burners that disintegrated within two years.

This year I upgraded to the stainless steel equipped Weber and all I can say is "Wow".The stainless grates sear the steaks just as well as the cast iron ones do, but without the annoying rust that appears on the cheaper grills. The ignitor is magical! The assembly was really easy. VERY IMPRESSIVE!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works with MacOS X
I was reluctant to purchase this because it did not state it was compatible with MacOS or MacOS X, but I went ahead and purchased it anywas, as it was the cheapest wireless print server with USB I found at the time.

To my surprise it works. I am using it with a Samsung ML-1710 "winprinter" without a problem on both Windows XP and MacOS X, on neither of the systems did I use any of the Belkin software, I simply setup the printer with an LPR port, USB port one is "lp1" and USB port two is "lp2" (both without the quotes) for anyone who is struggling to setup this print server.

I have noticed that most, if not all print servers, try to make setup too easy that they do not disclose too much information. Most print servers support LPR which is built into Windows, OS X and Linux, but to find the port names is almost impossible!

1-0 out of 5 stars WPA incompatibility
I have similar problems - I think that the printer server problem is WPA-PSK, TKIP related. I can print from both my Minolta and Epson printers with WPA-PSK disabled and the print server hardwired.
I note with interest that the printer server (F1UP001) setup offers the WPA option but the printer configuration utility does not- the available options are only security disabled, 64 bit WEP and 128 bit WEP (WinXP with SP-2 does not seem to offer WEP option for wireless any longer).
The F1UP001 printer setup programme locates the printer server only when WPA is disabled - even when hardwired. Printing is possible with WPA disabled only (at least for me)! Still waiting for a call back from the Belkin Escalation Engineers (1 week).

    Any suggestions?

1-0 out of 5 stars Compatability Is A CRAPSHOOT!
I bought this printserver together with a Belkin wireless router.I have two printers, a Cannon i900D and a brand new HP Deskjet 5740.The Cannon i900D works through the printserver. However, after about 10 hours of frustration, including 5 telephone calls with Belkin Tech Support, I was finally told (by a level 3 technician, whatever that means) "Well, I guess this printer just isn't compatible"!!The problem is, Belkin has NO IDEA what printers are compatible.Their website contains two lists - compatible printers and incompatible printers. Both are out of date.I can't find a single inkjet listed on either list that is still commercially available.Belkin tech support has no updated information on compatible models.
So does the product work?Maybe, if your printer is compatable.Problem is, noone knows if it is until after you buy the product and spend hours trying to set it up.Which, as I'm sure everyone knows, is immensely frustrating. ... Read more
