5-0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied!
After much research and shopping around, I nervously ordered two of these chairs. When they came, they were beautiful, but one was smashed. I E-mailed Amazon and heard back from them in less than 10 minutes. They arranged to have UPS(the original shipper)pick up the damaged one. 3 days later I had a new one from FedEx.(No charge) They are well made and superior to any chair I had seen forhundreds more.

5-0 out of 5 stars The chair designed for a Sunday afternoon nap
This chair is easily the most comfortable garden chair I have ever napped in.It is sturdy but of a portable weight.I am only sorry it is fall, and I won't have too much time left to use it until next spring. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rubik's Cube of Autism
This is an excellent book for parents of children with autism. The Hamiltons' oldest child, Ryan, was born in 1992 with no overt signs of autism. He did not display classic or overt autistic behaviors until he was a year old.

The Hamiltons were religious missionaries and spent the summer of 1993 in Russia with Ryan.It was in Russia that that Ryan's language became depleted; his behavior consisting of more self-stimming than of actual playing and his developmental lags were glaring among his peers. After that missionary period, the Hamiltons returned to the U.S. and began making the round of specialists.

In late 1994, their daughter was born and Ryan's autism was all the more marked alongside of her neurotypical (NT) development.Luckily for all, the Hamiltons began a megavitamin regimine for Ryan; ABA (formerly behavior modification) therapy and intensive training sessions for the boy.By the fall of 1998, Ryan, then 5 and starting kindergarten was described as being "indistinguishable" from his NT peers.

I like the way Lynn Hamilton includes scientific/physiological explanations for what takes place in the body when taking certain vitamins and medications; her knowledge of nutrition and her inclusion of world wide sites and agencies geared for individuals with autism.I also like the chapter Lynn's husband Roger wrote, sharing his insights as the father of a child with autism. One crucial point he made was to include the other children in the family, in this case their daughter when pointing things out to the child with autism and to take time to make little fun trips between therapy sessions. An excellent point that was made throughout the book is that by providing services to children with autism will be cost efficient in the long run because follow up work with adults with autism can prove to be quite costly. From a monetary standpoint, rehabilitation services such as housing and job assistance and also a purely human standpoint- the sooner services are provided to families who need them, the less likely the individual with autism will need extra help in the long run.

Autism is presented in this book as a Rubik's Cube.Like that famous cube, you can turn the many facets in any direction, yet to find that elusive full match. Many different perspectives are given, e.g. physiological; economic; therapeutic and each interlocks with the others.

As a Christian, I loved the way her faith sustained her; the inclusion of passages from Scripture were very moving indeed.I like that and think of it as a kind of faith sharing.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE Book to read for all parents struggling with autism
One of our twin boys was diagnosed with regressive autism at 2 years old. I have worked for 15 years as a professional helping people with developmental disabilites, but not once over that 15 years did I ever learn ANYTHING about what is in this book! We have followed Lynn's path, laid before her by the researchers & scientists of the DAN! movement (Defeat Autism Now!)We were afraid to even hope, but determined to at least give biomedical & ABA interventions a try. After all, we had nothing to lose; we already felt like we had lost our son. He never slept, outings were a nightmare, he never looked at us, he banged his head on the floor and his crib until he bruised, and he lost all his language. But just 6 months after starting on the path Lynn blazed for us, our little boy is "coming back"!Eye contact is back, social skills are back, he's no longer in pain, and he sleeps through the night! He even plays WITH his twin! He's so happy now! I can never thank you enough, Lynn, for teaching us the way to save our little boy! May God bless you & the amazing and brilliant people of DAN!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you even suspect autism read this book!
I had a suspicion our son had autism long before it was confirmed by any Doctor. I bought this book, hoping for some clues and answers. It was fabulous! If you have a suspicion that your child might have a form of autism, get this book, that way when you do go to the Dr. you will be ahead of the game. There are so many great resources in the book, and for the newly diagnosed the chapter,What to Do First is an excellent place to start. Another nice feature of the book is being able to pick out specific chapters you want to read, you don't have to read it cover to cover. It has been such a blessing to me, I cried when reading of her early experiences with her son, thinking of how I could relate, and in some cases wondering how the outside workd can be so cruel. It has given me a wealth of information and hope. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Teen fans of the movie Elizabeth will be fascinatedwith the pomp and sinister intrigue of Mary, Bloody Mary, an engrossing story about the teen years of Mary Tudor, half sister to Queen Elizabeth and daughter to Henry VIII. As a baby, Mary was adored by her father, who carried her around on his shoulder and displayed her for the court to admire. But as his marriage with her mother, Catherine of Aragon, waned for lack of a male heir, Henry began an affair with the beautiful Anne Boleyn. Mary was convinced that Anne was a witch. Didn't everyone know she had a sixth finger? And wasn't it Anne who persuaded Henry to declare his first marriage invalid (rendering Mary a bastard)? As the king grows ever colder, Mary is banished to a distant house, forbidden from seeing her mother, left to wear rags, and finally--at Anne's bidding--summoned back to court to be a servant to her baby half sister Elizabeth. Once there, Mary lives in constant dread that she will be poisoned or sent to the executioner's block in one of her father's rages. By the time Anne Boleyn herself is beheaded, Henry's first daughter has become the bitter and angry woman who was to be known as Bloody Queen Mary for her savage religious genocide. Carolyn Meyer, long acclaimed for her teen fiction (Drummers of Jericho), accurately captures the glitter and grandeur as well as the brutality of this fascinating period in history. SETTING
England during the time of King Henry VIII.

I loved how the author Carolyn Meyer describes how life was back then. I like how descriptive the book is one can almost imagine what their life was like.

I loved this book and I recomend this book to any one who loves historical novels especially stories of young royals.

5-0 out of 5 stars A different and interesting look at 'Bloody' Mary

I really enjoyed this book, not only for the fact that it was well written, but because the story was good.

Mary Tudor, princess of England and the daughter of Catherine of Aragon and King Henry of England, is 10 years old when King Henry sends her away to live with only her governess, Salisbury, and a few servants. Mary's life is surrounded by rumors of her father falling in love with another woman (who is not her mother), Anne Boleyn. After much suffering and after not seeing her beloved mother or her hated father for many years, the King marries Anne and Mary's mother dies. Anne, who Mary is sure is a witch and has bewitched her father, will stop at nothing to take the throne.

This book is very factual and a good read, even for people who may not be interested in this time period or subject. Mary Tudor's story is somewhat surprising because of all the violence and gore of the era. A great read.

1-0 out of 5 stars Selective 'truths' vs. WHOLE TRUTH: boydism is pseudism!
Using multiple scriptures in context does not prove that boydism is scriptural. It only goes to show how some people choose to select certain passages and misinterpret them to fit subjective personally-biased non-mainstream pseudo-conservative devangelical pre-established philosophical grids.

This book is a travesty. While making some good points here and there and quoting many passages to seemingly bolster the case, just as many other passages - more, in fact, - can be cited to overturn boydism.

Key scripture interpretive principle: didactic portions of New Testament control over anything else, including any Old Testament verses, narratives, etc. To have predecessor verses from Old Testament in control or non-didactic dictate to clear epistolic teaching violates the Rule of Faith: what does the Bible have to say on this subject AS A WHOLE, IN ITS ENTIRETY?

Boydism fails because it is arminianism taken to unhealthy extremes, not duly engaging the calvinism passages which are there to provide balance and the full-orbed teaching on the subject. The TRUTH (not mere truths) is found in a more 'calminian' position taking ALL SCRIPTURE verses in context, not just a select battery of citations to bolster one's philosophistry.

NOTE: Boyd got his advanced degrees from liberal Princeton and Yale which should tell the reader something. His first book, Trinity & Process shows Boyd's heavy dependency-as-devotee to Hartshornian processistic thinking which colors everything he imagines, interprets, writes, preaches and advocates. The major ideas in this book are no exception. They can be traced back to Hartshorne's book, Omnipotence & Other Theological Mistakes which was seminal in the collegiate formation of this impressionable grad student's 'way of doing Bible'. Boyd just adds other attributes to the list of mistaken notions: Omniscience & Other Mistakes; Omniprescience & Other Mistakes; Omniwrath against sin & Other Mistakes; Omni-inerrancy of Scripture & Other Mistakes; Omni-Sovereignty of God/Ltd. Liberty-Free Will of Man & Other Mistakes, Omni-eternity of hell-same-as-heaven & Other Mistakes, ad infinitum.

The Problem of Evil is more than Satan. Luther said it best: Satan is God's devil. What Satan does, God oversees/bridles.
THAT is what's missing in misguided one-sided boydism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truth
How can anyone say this theology is unbiblical when Boyd uses multiple scriptures in context to support each of his points? This is as close to a proper understanding of God we have come, it is certainly better than anything that traditional Calvinist logic (which can be very compelling) or traditional Arminian thought (which is illogical and contradictory) can offer us.

1-0 out of 5 stars CHAFF OUTWEIGHS WHEAT
this book is a serious departure from the Bible understanding of God's workings with people on earth.

it seems to me to be highly speculative and philosophic than drawn from a plain reading of scripture's clear texts.

no possible benefit can be derived from pursuing its train of thought.

best to read John Wesley's writings on the subject for a much more accurate view of the Problem of Evil in The Good Lord's world.

Strippers, peepshow dancers, and porn stars trade spiked heels for footnotes while demonstratingtheir often overlooked ability to engage in scholarly discourse in this collection of essays focusing on thesubject of feminism as practiced by those who call themselves "sex workers." Along with thefirst-person accounts by such underground luminaries as Nina Hartley, Tracy Quan, and Annie Sprinkle, are forays into the sex dens by a number of academics. The writing is frank, though hardly pornographic, and many of the points raised and discussed are treated with more seriousness and considerably moreinsight than they usually are in the mainstream press. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars So true!!!
For years I've considered myself to be a freak of sorts:I consider myself to be a feminist and a strong, secure woman who has a positive self and body image, yet, at the same time, I've wanted to strip. Not for money, but for my own enjoyment. In this book, it's explained that there is room for all of us in the feminist movement. It's about time that we as women stop demonizing men and begin to understand that women can be whores or porn stars, or stripers an not be an automatic victim.I found this book to be VERY refreshing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A POWERFUL BOOK
What is most fascinating about the war for sexual equality is that sex itself is the principle battlefield. The average American male idolizes Hugh Hefner for having seven girl friends all one-third his age and enjoying a lavish life style that was paid for by the fleshy attributes, surgically enhanced and otherwise, of thousands of women.Yet if a woman claims to have had hundreds of sexual partners and profited from those ventures, she's a social outcast whose potential husbands or boyfriends are silently held to "you're not going to get serious about her, are you?"As far back as the middle 18th Century, the most lascivious of the mainstream women's rights campaigners, Wicked Victoria Woodhull, who coined the term Free Love, was written out of feminist history by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony as an embarrassment to the more serious elements of the struggle.Jill Nagle's book challenges the debate on its most fundamental playing field: is sex part of sexual equality? Is profiting from and enjoying one's sexual skills and powers only a male option? This book is funny, entertaining, sexy, provocative, uncompromising and above all, marvelously intelligent and insightful.Yes, that woman in the Eros Guide ad has a master's degree and finds more freedom, fun, and financial gain in tying up and spanking the bank president than she once had fetching his coffee and dodging his ass-grabbing. Really, not all women who strut about in high heels and nothing else at the Mitchell Brothers theater are the victims of sexual abuse. And yes, if a woman has the right to say no, she has the right to say yes to whatever might feel good and look good and accept the array of consequences without selling out anyone else's political expectations.I loved this book: any man who feels threatened by smart, sexy, independent women has missed the best of them.Read and enjoy, and while you're at it, learn a few things. It will stay on my book shelf for a long time.James Dalessandro, author/screenwriter, Bohemian Heart, 1906

5-0 out of 5 stars Did Twiss Butler Read Beyond the Title?
That prostitution is one of only two professions in which women make more than men says to me that it is not solelya system that "pay[s] off for men at women's expense."Holding men responsible for what they "do to" women?Framing an act of paid sex between consenting adults as solely a man "doing something to" a woman robs that woman of her autonomy as surely as anything else the reader accuses Nagle of.The reader has a point about the scripts being written by men, but do tell me, what does she do for a living, and who writes her script? Do we not every day, all of us negotiate a world not solely of our choosing? And is prostitution any more misogynist than secretarial work, housecleaning or other scripted female jobs because it involves sex?The burden is on those who equate sex with misogyny to show why sex is particularly sexist, not the other way around. This book calls those very notions into question. ... Editorial Review

Dennis Quaid's delightfully over-the-top performance dominates this 1989 biopic about the life, times, and music of rocker Jerry Lee "the Killer" Lewis. It's all here: his snazzy threads, his devil-may-care Southern charm, his mane of golden hair, his underage girlfriends (Lewis's infamous marriage to his 13-year-old cousin, played here by Winona Ryder, and its effect on his career is a big part of the story), his fascination with "the devil's music" (much to the chagrin of cousin Jimmy Swaggart, portrayed by Alec Baldwin), and of course the classic tunes like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On." Director Jim McBride plays the whole thing broadly, for laughs, much like Quaid plays Lewis. The result is tongue-in-cheek entertainment with a strong musical component, made all the more so by the fact that all the singing and playing on the soundtrack is done by Lewis himself. --Sam Graham ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Jerry Lee's Story With His Own Music
Dennis Quaid plays Jerry Lee Lewis in this movie. Jerry Lee does his own music. The movie is a three star and the music is a five star. This movie is the true story of the life of Jerry Lee Lewis and a wonderful showcase for the artist's own music performed by himself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great balls of fire!
Well if one likes Jerry Lee's music this one is OK. After all it is not Dennis who actually plays and sings. It is the killer himself who takes care of that. Dennis is well over the top in this flick but nevertheless it still is an item I love to see over and over - and it looks great on my 95 inch screen also.
Probably it is the music that makes it worthwhile but the impact of the big screen in my home cinema helps a great deal too. And young Wynona Ryder does look sweet and innocent and as some people would say - she is easy on the eye. Well I always liked her too, so....

2-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but then not good
This is okay. Dennis Quaid is rather over the top and Winona Ryder is her usual humdrum self.Looks good and there are some good comedic touches.

However, rather than his career being trashed by the scandal depicted here, in that he marries his 13 year old cousin, and then she gets pregnant, and slaps her about, he should have been jailed. Sorry, distasteful is not the word for it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I like them so much, I bought another set
I bought these knives prior to Christmas.I am really surprised to see poor reviews.Maybe I got lucky.I will say, the balance seems to be slightly off. But, man are they sharp!I love using these knives, put them in the dishwasher every time, and have had no problems whatsoever with rust.

4-0 out of 5 stars sharp and economical
Despite another reviewer's experience, these knives are quite sharp. To compare them to plastic cutlery is ridiculous -- either the reviewer was being facetious or has an axe to grind for some reason.Notice that that review mentions that the buyer picked up his set for the same price as Amazon but at his local grocery store. How he knows that he even bought this same set of knives is beyond me.

So, I'll repeat:These knives are sharp.I don't find the handle particularly comfortable, but it's okay.My set arrived looking brand new -- no scratches.

Good value for the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get them only if its for looks
I have a Henckels block with a varied assortment of 11 knives but the 4 slots in the bottom for the steak knives remain empty.Though I have a complete set minus steak knives of the much higher quality 4 stars, I bought this exact same steak knife set from a grocery store chain locally in town for the same price it is listed here on Amazon thinking "what a great deal for Henckels knives!".I'd been looking for a good deal on a set of Henckels steak knives knowing that at any knife shop you could expect to pay upwards of 2 hundered for them.

After unpacking them from the box and cooking up a steak I found that these knives are only slightly better than a plastic untensil available free from a Boston Market. After two cuts into my meal I abandoned the so called Henkels steak knife for the 4" paring knife in my block.I will tell you that they look nice, but in my mind the image was severely cheapened by my attempt to find any kind of good use for them (other than give to people I dont like that are over for dinner!).They pretty much just float around in the standard utensil drawer with the forks and spoons now.I think 2 of them are even lost.Another thing I want to add is someone left one over the weekend in the bottom of the stainless steel sink and it rusted on the bottom and left a rust knife outline where it sat.

I read most of the other reviews on here and noticed a good portion are favorable.I just wanted to share my experience with this product and let you decide what you think based on all the facts. In my opinion, these are only Henckels knives in name and not quality.

Conclusion: A great wedding gift for your EX that gets married to someone else. ... Read more
