5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice product
The only knock on these binoculars is that the image can be unsteady, but that's a product of the 16X magnification, so it's not really a product fault. If you've got a steady hand, you'll love these things. Great for sporting events or the theater, and great bang for the buck. Highly recommended.

    3-0 out of 5 stars They're OK
I gave it only 3 stars because the focus is just a marketing gimmick that creates a cheap focusing mechanism.A decent traditional wheel for focusing is superior. You can't easily get a good focus, pressing your eyes against the eyepiece can force them out of focus, and it's easy to bump the rocker bar.At 16x power, you have to carefully adjust focus and a rocker bar is an awful design. You have to use both hands to focus: you can press down on one side of the rocker bar, but not up, so to go in and out of focus to get good sharpness, you have to press down with one hand's finger and then press down with the other hand's finger. The rocker bar is terrible idea, especially for 16x!To make matter's worse, there is a fair amount of play in the rocker bar.The rocker bar seems to be the limiting factor on short distances. 40 feet seemed to be the shortest distance they would focus.Stars come into focus well before the limit of the long-distance focus is reached, possibly indicating questionable workmanship, or maybe it makes it better for those who are really-bad near-sighted.

The moons of jupiter were clear and sharp even under city lights.Since it was the brightest "star" in the sky I thuoght i was looking at venus, but when i saw the 3 sharp dots surrounding the round disk, i knew it had to be jupiter. You have to rest them on a chair to see the moons.

The price here at Amazon (with free shipping) is $20 less than my local Walmart after our 10% taxes.

16x requires a fence or car or window to provide the stability needed to make full use of 16x. Even without a prop, it's good, but if your not going to use a prop, 12x50 is better because the amount of light is greater and the field of view is larger.

4-0 out of 5 stars From someone who knows nothing about binoculars!
I was reading reviews on these binoculars, and I thought it would be nice to have a pair. All I know about binoculars is what 16x50 means. That's it.I love nature, so I love to look at things.I have spent about three days trying to "work" these binoculars, and I finally figured it out tonight!I gave them 4 stars because the carrying case and strap are not very good quality.I don't really like the cheap rubber-like lens caps. After a lot of use, I can see that they will be useless.

As for the binoculars, they are great.I can see things around the yard really close.Great for watching the birds!!!:)I also wanted to test them to see what I could see of the moon and stars.I figured out that if I turned the focus knob clockwise and push the square-looking thing in the middle with the right side pointing up--- you can see a very clear image of the moon. You CAN see the craters.I even looked at several constellations.I don't know many names specifically, but I could see all the stars from one that was hard to see with the naked eye.It was awesome!!!You really need to have steady hands to see well.My hands are pretty unsteady, but I could see enough to make me happy.I think a tripod or something for these would help.

Overall, I think this is a great pair of binoculars for the price.I'm glad I bought them.Just think of what you could do if you know how to use them!:) ... Read more

Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or recreation easily, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or broth will still be hot. Or lemonade, iced tea, or a sports drink will still be chilled. Tapered toward the top and slim enough (11 inches high, 3 inches in diameter at bottom) to safely pour with one hand, it slips into a briefcase or backpack. Pouring is a snap--twist off the cup, which holds 6 ounces of liquid, twist the stopper a few turns and pour through a no-drip slot (there's one for righthanders, another for lefthanders) without removing the stopper. Fine threading ensures the stopper seals tightly, while the exterior has a handsome satin finish. The smooth interior cleans with sponge or cloth, and preheating or prechilling with hot or cold water is recommended. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best bang for your buck. Period.
I'll keep it short and sweet. This is the best value you will find while performing at a top notch level.I've been reading other reviews here, and they are pretty much all spot on.I only wish every...product I buy performs as well as this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great! Excellent thermos for hot beverages
This is an excellent product. I like to carry around hot coffee or tea with me throughout the day, and this does the trick.I often leave my house at 11 and don't get back until 10 at night, and this thermos will keep my beverage steaming hot even with me pouring a drink every so often. That's also a good point, the screw-top doesn't have to come completely out in order to pour; it can be screwed open half-way, and it serves as a convenient pouring spout. It's very well-designed--the pour stream is just the right speed, and when I'm done, nothing leaks over the edge and down the side of the canister.

The bottle itself is quite sturdy and, as someone mentioned, makes a very pleasant gong sound when struck with your finger.I dropped it once on the hard asphalt parking lot, and it came out unscathed. The cup top, however, is much softer apparently, and dented quite easily. It's not really damaged, I'm just a little upset that it dented when the rest of the bottle didn't.

Overall, a very good choice of thermos if you like to have a hot drink all day long.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best travel "Thermos" out there
I was quite frustrated by many similar designs that just didn't seem to work right, although at the time I had no idea how good a travel "thermos" should be.I thought all these 'munition' styled insulated bottles were made the same, but clearly they aren't.

The lid on my current travel thermos broke and I was in the market for a new one, and by accident ran into the Amazon reviews.I couldn't believe the claims. But it made sense, considering "clone" bottles cost half to 1/3rd the price of the Nissan Stainless, maybe clones weren't made with similar standards.

I tried similar designs from Starbucks, Dicks Sporting Goods, and a kitchen supply store and none could keep liquids warm past 4 hours, much less hot. They all came with fancy pour spouts, a spring loaded pop-up or insta-open fancies that all broke in 1-2 years and were very difficult to clean [coffee in the spring mechanisms was impossible to clean without disassembling the non-user serviceable spouts]. What ever happened to a simple cork like cap?

I was surprised by the Nissan. As it use is for travel, weight and size is important so while a tad bigger and heftier, keeping liquids _hot_ at least 8 hours or longer was far more important, and it did that very well.It had a simple screw on cap, that was superbly easy to clean. This is the one year anniversary of my bottle, and I couldn't be more happier. It has many dings and bumps today, dropped numerous times, treated without respect as it goes through hell all day and still rocks!

Some quickie notes to help other readers:

Heat retention:although this is claimed to past 12 hours, it depends on how much liquid remains in the bottle. The energy of the remaining liquid is extracted faster than if the bottle were full.If you don't precharge the bottle with boiling water for at least 10 minutes or longer, the liquid won't stay hot as long either.I drink small 'sake' size sips of coffee all day at work and with this bottle, 8 hours is the norm.

Cleaning: for stainless steel, a simple method of removing coffee stains is baking soda, i.e., sodium bicarbonate ... it neutralizes the acids and the stains literally strip away from stainless steel.A tablespoon added to boiling water, soak for half hour or longer [for best results, recap the bottle and leave overnight] will restore a new shine with little to no scrubbing.

Excellent product, it could last forever! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 16 oz canisters are ok !
I phoned Weber Customer Service concerning the 14 oz fuel canister specification. Customer Service advised me that 16 oz canisters work just fine.

Customer Service said the 14 oz fuel canister specification is due to the "Q" grill. Weber found the heavier 16 oz fuel canister could tip over the "Q" grill. In order to avoid "confusing their customers", Weber recently changed documentation for ALL portable grills so as to specify 14 oz.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best I've Seen Despite a Few Errors
This guide contains a wealth of information not easy to find in other sources. It is good at providing historical individual stats, but particularly good at providing comprehensive historical TEAM stats, which I find surprisingly hard to come by.There are a few mistakes and a few stats that s/b added (like time of possession where available), but overall the best of its kind made.Too bad it appears to no longer be published annually.(Also, the cover of the last edition was thinner and less durable than in prior editions.)

in the mid-90s i bought this book.... i found over 600 mistakes, thenquit... mistakes of every imaginable type.... and these were internalmistakes, where the same information in the book was different in 2different places... especially bad were the all-time and single seasoncategory listings in the back.. i wonder if things haveimproved?...---stolf---

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for any serious NFL fan
Forget about it-- no more arguments, this book has it all, the history, players, scores and stats in the NFL and AFL since 1960. There are updatededitions available, but they only cover the league since 1972. Nearly 800pages in an 8.5" x 11" format, you won't be dissatisfied. Editorial Review

Let's get right to the crux of the matter: Can the University of Michigan band really do justice to school songs from Big 10 rivals such as the University of Illinois, Northwestern, and the University of Iowa? The answer is mixed. The University of Wisconsin warhorse "On, Wisconsin" is played with verve and given a nifty arrangement, but the brassy Wolverine partisans don't really put their heart into cross-state rival Michigan State University's "MSU Fight Song." Road tripping from UCLA to the University of Maine, the UM band tackles staples ("Notre Dame Victory March," "Eyes of Texas," "Anchors Away," the stirring "Varsity") and sleepers ("Down, Down the Field," "Fight On, Pennsylvania"). Only someone who, as was once said of Michigan alumnus Gerald Ford, "played too many games without a helmet," would listen to 41 Great College Football Victory Songs in one sitting, but for those who need to feel a little school fight, fight, fight, here's all the collegiate spirit one needs. --Steven Stolder ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Iowa STATE?
Any album that lists the "Iowa Fight Song" followed by (Iowa State) can't be any good. It's the University of Iowa Fight Song, not Iowa State University. And from the preview I heard, they didn't do it justice anyway.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yawn
If you are looking for the fiery songs we all hear on Saturdays throughout the fall, keep looking. The song selection also dates this album. Many of today's power houses are excluded in favor of those who saw their days of glory before my lifetime. It is also insulting to see the Iowa Fight Song credited to Iowa State.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent concert band performances of fight songs
As some have said, if you're looking for the sounds of the stadium on Saturday, this may not cut it.However, for pure musicianship and performance quality, you'll be hard pressed to beat it.

These tracks were recorded in the early 1960's by the University of Michigan Symphony Band, under the direction of the legendary William D. Revelli. My understanding is that they were recorded in Carnegie Hall, during one of the band's national tours.(With the exception of "The Victors", none are live recordings in front of an audience.)Revelli strove for a very balanced and musical sound -- qualities clearly on display in these recordongs. He gives the woodwinds a chance to shine, and the brass are clean, accurate, and always in control.Revelli was a giant of twentieth century wind band music in America, and he got the most out of the outstanding musicians playing on these recordings.

The arrangements are by Michigan alum and reknowned wind band composer Jerry Bilik.(Bilik also composed "M Fanfare", which the Michigan Marching Band plays upon entering the stadium. His arrangements of "Temptation" and "Hawaiian War Chant" are still staples of the MMB's post-game show -- "you can't have one without the other!")These are outstanding *concert* arrangements of the fight songs, and are very imaginative. They are, for the most part, not "field arrangements", and the current MMB uses either different versions of them, or only plays parts of them.Bear in mind that when one band plays another's fight song, they are always playing their own arrangement -- original versions are only played by the school that owns them.

Some reviews have complained about the lack of SEC and southern representation on the disc. This is understandable when considered in the context of when the recordings were actually made.40 years ago, the SEC was not nearly so prominent, and the Florida schools were not the powerhouses they are today. (But they did all lose their bowl games last year, so there's hope for the rest of us!)

As an MMB alum who has played "The Victors" thousands of times and has heard many recordings of it, I can honestly say that the recording here is what I consider to be the definitive one.It is almost identical to the current arrangement played by the MMB.Sure, it's not as massive as when played by the Marching Band, but it's played extremely tight, with a lot of energy, and at a great tempo (around 180 beats per minute).

I give this disc 4-stars.It's 5-star playing, but with a caveat emptor -- if you're expecting to hear the marching band, that's not what you're getting.
Incidentally, if you are interested in recordings by the Michigan Marching Band, they sell several CDs ranging from the mid 1980's up to last year.Their website is mmb.music.umich.edu ... Read more

The CFD-ZW755 CD/radio cassette recorder sports a convenient handle so your tunes can go anywhere you do, whether you're blasting tunes for friends or listening in private through the supplied stereo headphones. The unit's CD player uses a one-bit digital-to-analog audio converter for pristine sound, and audio CD-R/CD-RW compatibility means the box will play your home-brewed music mixes as well as prerecorded CDs.

The CFD-ZW755 includes a digital AM/FM stereo tuner, too. Four electronic sound modes (rock/pop/jazz/vocal) let you tailor the sound for listening to various different types of music or in different environments, while Mega Bass sound enhances low-frequencies in any sound mode. Perfect for parties, the unit comes with Sony's Loop/Flash sound effects. Loop continuously repeat a few seconds of music, while Flash provides intermittent playback for a DJ-like stuttering effect.

With synchronized CD/cassette dubbing, CD playback commences just after cassette recording begins. The stereo record/playback cassette deck provides direct recording from either the tuner, the CD player, or another cassette. Other features include four-inch detachable speakers and 20-track CD programming. The unit runs on the supplied AC power cord or six D batteries.

2-0 out of 5 stars Is this a Sony player ?
    KK (Dallas, TX)

The left speaker doesn't work when I play cd's, but it works just fine when the radio or a tape is playing.....doesn't make sense ! Makes me so mad !!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Definitely Not the same old Sony quality
1 YEAR UPDATE 2/6/05:This Sony boombox has gotten worse since I last reviewed it a year ago.I just discovered that the right speaker (as you face the unit) no longer works when playing CDs.When using the radio or tape deck, no problem. The only sound out of the right speaker when playing a CD is just a very faint crackling sound.Understand that this boombox sits on a tabletop and is hardly moved around even though the intent of a boombox like this should allow for frequent moving.I'm pretty disappointed while I sit here listening to one channel on stereo CDs.Time to go shopping - only after 1 yr of use!Not good.

    ORIGINAL POST 1/25/04

    Pro:

    1) Doesn't look flashy and wierd like a lot of recent boom boxes.
    2) Still working after 2 yrs. - nothing has broken (no CD playing problems).
    3) Does a basic job of making sound.

    Con:

    1) Turns on mysteriously at night probably due to a neighbor's remote controller on the same frequency as my boom box or being triggered by some other random radio wave.(has freaked me out at times causing me to wake up in the middle of the night and get out of bed to turn it off - really freaky if the CD is playing my daughter's nursery songs.)
    2) Setting radio station presets is not intuitive and simple.
    3) Lacks decent bass sound relative to my Magnavox boom box, even with the "Mega Bass" activated.
    4) FM and AM radio reception is mediocre.I live in Los Angeles with a lot of strong radio stations but some local stations just don't come in clearly without static.
    5) Lacks the Sony quality feel that I used to know.
    6) Price to high - should cost around $60 for what you get.

Bottom Line:I expected better from Sony given my past experience with their products.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a piece of [junk]!!!
This is one of the [worst] boomboxes ever! This thing will just refuse to play most cd's. I've only had this boombox for almost a year and now already it acts real weird. Now when I put my disc in, turn it on, it spins my disc a little bit, it makes a weird clicking sound, the speakers make a strange buzzing sound, and then it stops spinning and says no disc. What the heck is with that! So then I thought maybe the disc was a little bit dirty (not even a scratch) wiped it off just to make sure, then I put it back in the system. It did the same thing (and these were regular store bought cd's!) Then I thought maybe it is just my disc or something. So I tried another one and the same thing happened. I tried reloading it about 10 times and then it started playing (thank god!) Then I walked over to it and pressed the next track button and their it goes spinning full blast, not playing right and then displaying "no disc" After about a month of putting up with this [junk], I sold it to my friends grandmother who mostly listens to the radio. She is happy with it because she likes how she can control it with the remote. Other than that the radio works pretty good and the tape decks work pretty good, but I still would not reccomend this product to anyone... If you want to get a better boombox, get a Panasonic, JVC, or something better. I'd hate to see someone put up with [what] I did with this [Boombox].
