    Editorial Review

While there are a number of rotary tools on the market made by a host of different manufacturers, the Dremel Moto-Tool is the one they all strive to copy. Dremel's MultiPro variable-speed model is great for a huge range of projects, from home improvement tasks to hobbies and crafting. It has a continuously adjustable speed range from 5,000 to 35,000 rpm, which allows the user to effectively work with materials as soft as balsa wood and as hard as ceramics. The flexible shaft that comes with this model is great for working in tight spots many rotary tools can't touch. The kit also comes with an assortment of accessories and a handy carrying case. Others may copy it, but Dremel has been making rotary tools so long they've come close to perfecting the idea. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Variable Speed Switch cause of Malfunction
This Dremel was great when it worked. I had the same problems that I see many others have had. The variable speed switch was not designed well and the tool is rendered useless after a few weeks of light usage. The tool was sent in for warranty repair 2 weeks ago, still waiting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas dream
I mentioned to my mother ONCE that I wanted this...and so I was stunned when I got it for Christmas!I use it for everything from clockmaking, to cleaning and refinishing antique jewellery and the like.Everything... literally everything. There are so many more attachments to get!... The "flex shaft" is a necessity for me, at least. So I reccommend buying this "super kit" which comes with that flex shaft....

5-0 out of 5 stars Dremel does it again!
I still have my 10-year-old Dremel tool but I wanted this one because it goes up to 35,000 rpm. And is it sweet! I like the soft grip body because it is more comfortable to hold and doesn't slip when my hands get sweaty. The faster speeds make the cuts smoother when I use the routing bits.

I also like the way Dremel keeps coming out with new bits to keep the tool versatile. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Cordless convenience is what you'll find with the three-in-one Black & Decker MT1203K-2 12-volt multitool kit. Powered by a rechargeable 12-volt battery pack, the multitool offers three tools--a drill/driver, jig saw, and sander/polisher--in one powerful unit. To change applications, simply switch out one attachment for the next. It's that easy. With the multitool, you don't have to compromise performance for convenience--the tool delivers both, no matter which attachment you use. The drill/driver, for example, offers variable speeds of 0 to 700 rpm, a keyless chuck, an electric brake, and 24 preset torque positions. The jig saw operates at 0 to 3,000 spm and features, among other things, tool-free blade changing, a blade support roller, and a 45-degree bevel for just the right cut. The sander/polisher spins at 0 to 8,000 opm and is compatible with all the attachments and accessories that go with Black & Decker's popular Mouse sander. The whole thing comes housed in an impact-resistant, molded-plastic storage case that can go anywhere with you. --Carl Thress ... Read more

    2-0 out of 5 stars Old-Tech
As you can see, the other reviews date all the way back to 2000, which tells you that this product was designed a long time ago compared to other cordless tools and batteries available today. This set was, in it's prime, pretty good.I bought it for my mom for Xmas 2001 (which has only been used a couple of times,) and bought one for myself (to replace my Ryobi 12v) a year later

One of my (2) batteries became very aenemic after a year, and the other one's pretty much shot now.For light household use, the driver's pretty much average for a 12v, but the saw and sander eat up the poor capacity NiCD's pretty quick. Forget about replacing the batteries, too, since they are the same capacity as the originals, and about $50 a pop!I may share in some of the blame for the relatively short life of the batteries, because the charger has no trickle or shut-off feature, and who can remmber to remove them from the charger in a timely fashion every time?

    I saw a MUCH newer B

4-0 out of 5 stars Fouryears of good light to medium duty jobs
I've owned the Multi-tool for four years, and recently had to replace one of the original batteries. A single battery will last most of the day drilling dry wall srews or wood screws. The Saw will cut 1/2 inche ply-wood and the batteries lasted about an hour each doing so. Recently we've added a room to the back of the house 19'X10' and again the driver did a fine job. Now we are gutting out a closet a bathroom and laundry area and combing them into one large bathroom and again one fully charged battery will last most of the day driving screws. I can't say much about the sander, but the noise level is not an issue. The B&D 12volt Multi-Tool is no louder than any other 12 or 14.4 cordless drill.

1-0 out of 5 stars Show But No Go
This multi-tool set is really pretty, but it is all show and no go. The tools are so heavy and clunky that they are difficult to use.The jig saw has an extra button on the power head that makes it very difficult to use.You actually have to push a button with both hands to get it to work. All of the tools are very noisy and require ear protection to use.The batteries have a very short life and a very long charging time.If you accidentally leave them on the charger it will distroy them. I bought this set for my son for Christmas, but the little elves that built it were obviously not tool makers.I'm sending the whole mess back. No more Black and Decker for me! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Black & Decker's 3.6-volt PowerDriver is perfect for assembling furniture, mounting shelving, changing hardware, or any project where turning a standard screwdriver would be a painstaking process. The rocker switch toggles easily between forward and reverse, and the automatic spindle lock allows you to manually start screws or finish them without stripping or overtightening. When installing hardware in hard-to-reach places, the narrow nosepiece gives you an extended reach. --Dori Anvinson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great for the average do-it-yourselfer
I got this for my spouse and he loved it.Its easy to use, runs as long as he needs for the minor projects and repairs he does.If you are a professional who'd use a tool like this, it won't last nearly as long as you'll need. The target audience should be the average John or Jane who really just wants to make the few times a screwdriver is needed a month less work so things get fixed in a timely fashion.

1-0 out of 5 stars JUNK - Broke after using TWICE
I received this driver for Christmas, used it twice, and then heard a loud grinding sound. After taking off the drive head, I noticed that two metal posts securing plastic gears had sheared!

By comparison, my Skil driver is going on 10 years!

    B&D is JUNK!

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful, sort of.
I used to use a B&D cordless screwdriver, but gave it away when I found it often took as long, or longer to use this tool than using a manual screwdriver. Sure, it's faster when you have a LOT of screws or very long screws, but a cordless drill is faster still, and has the advantage of variable speed and more power. Using this screwdriver to drive long wood screws is an excercise in patience as you watch it sloooowly drive the screw in and then quit halfway as it runs out of power.

Cordless screwdrivers are cheaper than drills, true, but overall I think the classic 7.2volt Makita cordless drill is just about as compact, much more versatile, much more powerful, lasts much longer and will drive a lot more screws on a charge. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Remember when the DustBuster first came out? Erase that memory. This baby is generations beyond that. You get more run time and more power than you would expect from a cordless vacuum, and here's a great improvement: B&D has increased the capacity by 70 percent. That's a lot of dust and grunge. Extra tools snap right onto the vacuum, ready at hand. Because it comes with two VersaPak batteries, you can keep one on charge while the other is in use and never be without your DustBuster. It's light, powerful, and cleans up small messes in a snap. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fixing the recharging problem with B&D DustBuster
I/ve fixed our problem with the DustBuster not holding a charge and not re-charging as follows: 1) Push release button and remove motor housing from vacuum 2) Gently remove the motor housing cover plate with a small flat bladed screwdriver 3) Remove fourscrews (two on outside and two on inside) with a long, small bladed phillips screwdriver (note how on/off switch and release button fits before separating housing 4) Turn switch on and let rotor run completely down...rotor will stop 5)Clean all copper with a Q tip and rubbing alcohol (move the switch back and forth to clean under it) Alclhol will self dry 6)Using a regular finger nail file, gently file contact points on motor and then on charging unit (you'll have to depress and hold charging unit contacts with your small screwdriver to make good contact)7) re-assemble the unit and charge overnight. You'll be amazed!!!After doing this, don't store the vac in the charger full time (it decreases battery power just like on any rechargeable appliance; and, let the battery completely run down about once a month then put it in the charger overnight. GGOD LUCK!
