Norpro Bread Slicer with Crumb Catcher Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $16.99 -- our price: $16.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review This is an adequate no-frills manual bread slicer, and adequate is the operative word. The crumb catcher eliminates messes, making this slicer a much cleaner option than slicing bread on a cutting board. Also, you can achieve uniform 1/2-inch slices; the only caveat is that you can't adjust the slicer to cut any thicker or thinner. Use your longest serrated knife when cutting, because a knife that just barely spans the width of the slicing tray will keep slipping out of the acrylic slicing guides. The guides have no top support and tend to wobble a bit as you slice. They also have inexplicably high sides; you'd have to use triple the leavening to make bread that reaches the top of them. Despite its design limitations, the Norpro deluxe bread slicer is easy to assemble and maintain and has an attractive overall look. --Carol Gnojewski ... Read more Features Reviews (12)

OXO Good Grips Crumb Sweeper Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $6.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review If the breaking of the bread gets a little too messy at your dinner table, this tool rolls to the rescue. With a revolving interior brush, the crumb sweeper picks up large and small pieces, sweeping them along so you can dispose of them simply. The wide rubber handle top fits comfortably no matter what size your hand, and since it's nonslip, the sweeper won't slip out from beneath your grip. Snap it open for easy cleaning. This tool works marvelously on tabletops and tablecloths and--for folks who eat in places they shouldn't--is also a great match for upholstery. --Laurie Notaro ... Read more Features Reviews (1)

JDS 750JER Air Cleaner with Remote includes Electrostatic Pre-Filter Average Customer Review: Tools & Hardware list price: $289.99 -- our price: $289.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Features Reviews (31)
I just purchased a retro-fit kit to add the remote control and shut-off timer features. Originally, I though the remote wouldn't be necessary but after using the unit for a while it seems it would be more convenient to have the remote. Plus the shut-off timer is a great help. I've left my unit on overnight more than once... The competing Jet and Delta units are also nice. I checked them both out at shows and local stores. I thought the fit and finish of the Delta unit was not quite up to par with either the JDS or Jet units. This could certainly have more to do with how the Delta units I have seen were handled by resellers rather than anything to do with Delta. I own many Delta products and they are a fine company so I suppose you'll have to use your own judgement on this point. Customer service from JDS is great. They happily answered all of my questions any time I called. All three units seem to have similar features but what made my decision was the fact that JDS specializes in this area and their customer service is excellent.
I removed the packaging material from the fan unit( 2 screws only removed) and plugged the unit in. Runs like a charm. The remote is handy as my unit is suspended from the ceiling and I would need a step-ladder to operate it if this was not a feature. The three speeds are great and range from whisper quiet. The unit will certainly clean as outlined and I am sure that there will be many years of great service. I do a lot of routing and power sanding and this will eliminate the dust in the air. Run the unit while working and set the timer to clean after leaving the shop. I have a 1200 SQ. FT. shop and this is the ticket. Combined with the dust collection system that I have installed, I will breath much easier. This unit is better made with a heavier case than either Delta or Jet. For the few $$ more, I would be certain that you will be far more pleased with the JDS. This is a great unit. Oh, sure, I will probably find things that might be a little better on the bigger commercial units, but for the money this is the one. Virgil White
The JDS quality of build is far above the Delta. Heavier gage case and better attention to detail in manufacture. The eloctrostatic air filter is a real value (since it is the outer filter that needs the most frequent replacing/cleaning), and the infinitely variable speed adjustment and pull switch all make this unit well worth the little extra money. The pull switch will half whatever setting you have as high on the variable speed adjustment (each pull is - high, mid, off). I have reviewed the Jet product as well (only in literature, not hands on) and feel that the JDS is still a better unit. The Jet has the remote control feature which sounds good at first. I have a stereo in my shop that has a remote, never use it. It's never in a convenient place relative to me or I can't find it! I feel the remote for the air cleaner would be the same, and I feel it's just one more gizmo to break or get lost. The air cleaner goes on and off only once a day, no big deal. It would be nice if the JDS had a timer as does the Jet, but it's an easy addition if I find it necessary. The JDS says lifetime warranty, that's on the case only, the motor is 1 year. Not sure about the other brands. One more little thing. I've worked to create a nice atmosphere in my shop and I really dislike products that are sticker laden billboards for the manufacturer. I felt the Delta was an eyesore hanging from my ceiling and the Jet looks to be the same from the pictures. The JDS is subdued and professional looking, a small thing indeed, but perhaps something to consider if you dislike visually obtrusive logoism. I would buy this unit again and highly recommend it as a necessary safety item in any dust laden environment. ... Read more Asin: B0000302XS |

Black & Decker S300 ScumBuster Cordless Wet Scrubber Average Customer Review: Kitchen list price: $39.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Does cleaning the tile in your kitchen or bathroom feel like an aerobic workout? This lightweight, cordless ScumBuster by Black & Decker is sure to make cleaning your bathroom or kitchen much easier. With a nonslip, comfortable grip and four attachments (a 4-inch scrub pad for wide area cleaning, a 3-inch area brush for tub and tile cleaning, a detail brush for corners and around faucets, and a 4-inch mild pad for light scrubbing), the ScumBuster is great for a wide variety of jobs. And with 3.6 volts of power, there's no need for elbow grease. --Jane DePaolo ... Read more Features Reviews (52)
It wiped out that colony in a heartbeat. I did the whole tub in about 5 minutes. It used to take me 20 and my arm and back would hurt when I was done. The scumbuster even got rid of that nasty gunk between the tiles in the shower. I then did hte toilet which was also disgusting and it cleaned it right up in about 3 minutes. I cleaned the sink and it now shines. I also used my Scumbuster on the kitchen stove. I made Spaghetti a few weeks ago and the sauce splattered everywhere. I didn't clean it out of spite. But i used my scumbuster and it was no problem. Basically, you can use this thing anywhere you'd use a sponge. And you can use any cleaner you want. I used Soft Scrub and Windex in the bathroom and kitchen. The only bad part is that when you get it you'll probably all ready to clean - you know, you're in the zone! But you have to wait 6 hours for the battery to charge before you can do anything. After that it's all good. Each scrubber is incredibly easy to put on and take off. In fact the whole thing is easy to use. I only read the directions once to see how long the battery had to charge. Other than that, it's all self-explanatory. Also, I love the color of the Scumbuster!
Overall, I don't think it's worth the space it takes up, but it does work. Power: good. The power is fine and I was able to exert enough pressure with no problem to feel like I was doing something. Battery Life: Excellent. I was favorably impressed with the battery life, it lasted much longer than I expected. However, with any cordless appliance you need two batteries so that you can charge one while you are using the other. Also, rechargeable batteries work best in appliances that are in daily use, like a cordless phone or a drill you use daily in your construction job. Otherwise you never have a charged battery when you need it and keeping them always on the charger shortens their life. Speed of rotation: slow. It turns too slowly to clean quickly. However, I can see if it turned faster it might sling soap around the room, it might be dangerous, and it might be hard to control. Cleaning carpet: Lousy. The circular motion scrubs only one way, not in all directions like I like. I went back to a manual scrubber. Manual is just as fast, better, and only a little more effort. Cleaning the bathtub: Lousy. The tiny little pad and slow rotation combine to make the tool too slow. I went back to a manual scrubber and do it faster and much better, albeit with more effort. Cleaning tile grout: Lousy. The flat scrubber will not get down in the groove and clean the grout. Cleaning the shower tile: too slow. Same problem as with the tub. Hint: To get shower tile truly clean, try this. First, scrape each and every tile with a razor blade until it feels smooth and you aren't scraping off any more calcium. Then scrub each tile carefully with Ajax or Zud Heavy Duty. The Scumbuster could help in this task. For the final step, go over the tile carefully with Meguiar's Gold Class car wax. This stuff is amazing and the only product that I have found to really clean off that incredibly stubborn calcium, and I have tried them all. Also it smells great. Buff to a shine and your tile will look just like the pictures on the bottles of all those products that are supposed to clean tile but don't. This procedure takes me about 4 hours per shower stall. The scumbuster is not up to this job because it's too tiny. It would take something bigger like a car polisher that you can plug in. Cleaning the tile at the water line of the pool: Good. The small area of tile, having to work in the water, having some of the tile under water, and the length of the tile to be cleaned make the Scumbuster useful for this task. Cleaning the calcium off the sink faucet: lousy. First off, the Scumbuster pad can not fit in the narrow spaces required. Second off, the calcium can not be removed by scrubbing. Again, scraping with a razor blade is required. Simply scrape the calcium off, then follow with the Megauir's wax mentioned and you will get a better than brand new sparkle. Remove the faucet handles so that you can get all of the calcium. Keep a washcloth on the towel rack handy and wipe down the faucet after each use (5 seconds) to keep it sparkling like new. Scrubbing the sink: Acceptable. The small area to be cleaned allow the Scumbuster's speed to be acceptable here. However, I still went back to manual.

Allsop Pro Laser-Lens Cleaner Average Customer Review: Electronics list price: $19.99 -- our price: $9.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Features Reviews (5)
It is a specially-designed CD which has eight tiny tufts of what look like soft nylon bristles which the lens encounters and is gently and rapidly swiped by as you 'play' the track on the CD to which they are attached. Immediately after performing the pretty quick cleaning operation I definitely noticed more 'bloom' to the sound from both speakers (Classe amp/CD with Logan electrostatics). So, yes, the product was safe for me, does what it says, is well-priced and effective; I would recommend it.
The instructions on this product are pretty easy to follow. And it only took one cleaning to see the improvement. After the first use you'll see how cleaning only takes about 20 seconds so it's not time-consuming whatsoever. ... Read more Asin: B00000J1QS |

Suncast PTR200D Hose Hideaway 200' Hose Reel Average Customer Review: Tools & Hardware list price: $39.99 -- our price: $39.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Outdoor lifestyles are changing the way we look at hose storage. This great new hose reel looks deceptively like an attractive planter but provides compact storage for 200 feet of hose. Built of solid resin poly and designed with a stay-up lid, the reel is ready to endure season after season of use. Five-year limited warranty. ... Read more Features Reviews (19)
I would have rated this 5 stars except for the following: a) when reeling the hose in you must make sure it is evenly distributed around the hose reel, otherwise the hose can become jammed. b) durability has yet to be confirmed. There have been no problems after 1 year, but will this hideaway last 5 years?
