Black and Decker FSC718K-2 18-Volt 7-Tool Combo Kit by Black & Decker Average Customer Review: Tools & Hardware list price: $378.57 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Features Reviews (4)
Anyway I've read some reviews that say the chuck on the drill can't hold a bit at all and its only real use is as an 18-volt screwdriver. I've run a 1/2" bit to the hilt into a 4X4 several times just to test it, and there was no slippage at all. I'm not really sold on the pop off chuck, but it has saved time when I was building some books shelves recently. But I would say that 280 lbs. of torque is plenty for most applications, but have to admit that I am a novice and use the drill/driver around the house. I've only had it a little over a month but have played around with it, and am very impressed with it. Especially when compared to most of the other 18 volt drill/drivers out there. The circular saw cuts 2X4 with no problem and I have used it to cut about 10, 1"X6 "shelf's to length with plenty of power left over. The Cut Saw is just cool. I haven't had time to use it much but in your hands it feels as if it has enough power to do just about anything you might need it to do. The vacuum is a step up from the basic dust buster does a fine job and has great battery life. The flashlight is bright and I've used it to drain the partially used batteries before recharging. My kit is a little different in that I do not have the laser level/stud finder or the work table and the tool bag looks smaller, but this is as close as to what I have as I could find. My kit included the Radio/charger FS100 Stud Finder The Drill Circular Saw, the Cut Saw Light and Vacuum. But other than that the kits are very similar. I bought four extra batteries and the fast multi-volt charger on E-Bay so in case I ever do get busy with the kit I'll be able to keep it powered. I would say you would have a hard time beating this kit for the performance and price (check E-Bay). Plus it's been fun to play with, and I've read DeWalt builds the Firestorm stuff. I am looking forward to putting it to a real test. But I'm sure it will pass any tests I put it through with flying colors.

DEWALT DW6KTRG Heavy Duty XRP 18-Volt Cordless 6-Tool Combo Kit by DeWalt Average Customer Review: Tools & Hardware (30 September, 2003) list price: $1,100.00 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Here's a great collection of DeWalt tools that all use the same 18-volt batteries. The 1/2-inch adjustable clutch drill/driver/hammer drill's high-torque motor delivers 450 inch/pounds of torque for drilling with large bits and driving large-shank screws with no worries of lock-up because the third speed is 38 percent faster, with a range of 0 to 2,000 rpm. The chuck's carbide jaws won't let go of even the smallest bit. The DW938 reciprocating saw has nice ergonomics--good balance, a comfortable grip, and it's not unwieldy, even with the battery attached. We particularly like the keyless blade clamp that lets you change blades without touching the blade or reciprocating shaft. The 6-1/2-inch circular saw is one of favorites for its light weight, power and ease. You can see the blade on the left side, so you've got great cutting-line visibility. Want to bevel? No problem. And it's even got a rip fence. The right-angle drill has two speed ranges of 0-500/0-1,500 rpm for more flexibility and a max torque of 310 inch/pounds for large bits and fasteners. The nice long trigger lets you reach it even in the tightest spaces, and in case you need to back something out, you've got reverse at your fingertips. At 6,500 rpm, you'll get high power for all kinds of cutting and grinding applications. Trim rebar, steel pipes, and iron rails with ease. Wheel-changing is easy, thanks to the spindle lock, and the three-position side handle offers great control. We like the easy grip, the comfortable trigger switch and the lock-off feature. The flex-neck flashlight's wide-angle beam is brighter than a traditional flashlight, and you'll find all kinds of uses for it. A nice touch we appreciate is the spare Xenon bulb, so you'll never be in the dark. All together, quite a neat deal.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more Features Reviews (2)

Makita DK1052DL 18-Volt 2.6Ah NiMH MFORCE 4-Piece Cordless Combo Kit by Makita Average Customer Review: Tools & Hardware US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Features Reviews (1)
UPDATE: 2 batteries should be enough for a day if you are not constantly using the tools all day long. Recommend charging them at the end of the day to be ready for the next day, but not always necessary. If you are framing a house or something like that, you'll probably charge them once or twice (using 3 to 6 batteries a day, but that's the drill and both saws humming along). Consider getting another drill kit or something that is also 18V(2.6ah at least). I bought another 6347D drill kit, as it came with 2 more batteries and another charger. Better deal than buying everything separately. Asin: B0000B28ER |
