5-0 out of 5 stars Very good value.
Price and quality all the way. The only negative item would be no rip fence came with the cordless circular saw and I was unable to find it at any of the local hardware stores that I shop at. Other than that it is a very good value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great 18 Volt tool kit
My kit is very similar but not quite the same it's theFSC618K-2

Anyway I've read some reviews that say the chuck on the drill can't hold a bit at all and its only real use is as an 18-volt screwdriver. I've run a 1/2" bit to the hilt into a 4X4 several times just to test it, and there was no slippage at all. I'm not really sold on the pop off chuck, but it has saved time when I was building some books shelves recently. But I would say that 280 lbs. of torque is plenty for most applications, but have to admit that I am a novice and use the drill/driver around the house. I've only had it a little over a month but have played around with it, and am very impressed with it. Especially when compared to most of the other 18 volt drill/drivers out there. The circular saw cuts 2X4 with no problem and I have used it to cut about 10, 1"X6 "shelf's to length with plenty of power left over. The Cut Saw is just cool. I haven't had time to use it much but in your hands it feels as if it has enough power to do just about anything you might need it to do. The vacuum is a step up from the basic dust buster does a fine job and has great battery life. The flashlight is bright and I've used it to drain the partially used batteries before recharging. My kit is a little different in that I do not have the laser level/stud finder or the work table and the tool bag looks smaller, but this is as close as to what I have as I could find. My kit included the Radio/charger FS100 Stud Finder The Drill Circular Saw, the Cut Saw Light and Vacuum. But other than that the kits are very similar. I bought four extra batteries and the fast multi-volt charger on E-Bay so in case I ever do get busy with the kit I'll be able to keep it powered. I would say you would have a hard time beating this kit for the performance and price (check E-Bay). Plus it's been fun to play with, and I've read DeWalt builds the Firestorm stuff. I am looking forward to putting it to a real test. But I'm sure it will pass any tests I put it through with flying colors.

5-0 out of 5 stars The tools make the man!
Someone once told me a man is only as good as his tool. Well, when I purchased the Black and Decker 7-tool combo kit I became a man and for a year I was king of the neighborhood. I had become the most respected carpenter in the project. I built four house that year and was going strong as I was branching out my business. Until one night I awoke to find some of my tools missing. I figured I must have left them on a job or something. The next day I searched for them but to no avail. The next night I woke and found the rest of the kit gone. The next night I burned the candle at both ends waiting to find the culprit. I had fallen asleep and felt something tugging at my underwear. I awoke and jump out of my seat when I found little gnomes racing through the house holding my underwear in victory. I pulled my best 007 and tracked them down in the crevices of the basement. There they were singing "We are the tool and underwear gnomes. We need lots of supplies to make it on our way. Big business is a freight train on a path to money right away."
I stood there alone and cold as a breeze went up my pajamas, begging for my atleast my hammer in trade for my silence. They simply told me it was my word, a middle aged working class man, against that of a GNOMES. I guess it was back to the drawling board, without a pen. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars dissapointing
I am a carpenter and have been using dewalt tools for the past 16 years. I purchased the 18v hammer drill and sawzall expecting solid top of the line tools. In 14 months of use I have purchased 2 xr batterys because of failure and had the clutch replaced in the drill. The sawzall has been in for repair once also. While the drill was in the shop I purchased a 15.4 volt panasonic drill. When I received the drill back we installed a deck using the two drills side by side. The panasonic lasted about 4 times as long while driving faster and better. The chuck on the panasonic is far better and the tool is better balanced. The sawxall has a jerky stroke and has no stamina. I am very dissapointed and will not buy again. My older dewalt drills were reliable and tough. not the case with these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dewalt Mega Combo does Mega Work
I run a small remodeling business that gets into a little bit of everything, so flexibility and versatility are important at all times. This is a great combination of tools for anyone that must use a variety of fasteners in diverse situations.Having a drill/driver and a rotary hammer with common batteries and charger eliminates the duplication that usually comes with cordless tools. The recip saw is one of the tools used most often on our jobs, so popular that we often compete for its use.The light is an added "bonus" that often comes in handy.
The run time for all three tools is impressive, along with the power of all three.I have even used the recip saw, with a long blade, to cut dowm small trees.
Overall, this set was one of the best purchases I have made for my crew. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great deal!
I bought this drill/saw combo kit at a tool show for just $-
It's built with makitas typical precision and industrial ruggedness. The drill is faultless. The saw is very accurate and has a decent capacity, though it does tend to bog down a bit in denser hardwoods.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a saw
I have used the Makita kit for about 1 1/2 years now.I am a woodworker and carpenter and bought the kit to replace an older one. This saw is great. It is perfect for trim, especially smaller parts. Lightweight, accurate, durable, what else can I say?I love the batteries, although after hard use they are almost due for replacement.
I also bought the drill, circ saw, and sawzall combo kit.I dropped the drill 8 feet and broke the case, and a new case cost only 20 bucks. I hardly use my Skil wormdrive anymore, because the circ saw is so convenient.

I don't put tools on display, I use them. These are good ones.

With this combo kit, DeWalt has assembled an impressive set ofcordless power tools perfectly suited for the seasoned pro but withdefinite appeal for the hardcore do-it-yourselfer. The DW5KITV3 combokit features DeWalt's popular line of 18-volt cordless tools andaccessories, including a heavy-duty, three-speed clutchdrill/driver/hammer drill; a sturdy reciprocating saw with keyless bladeclamp; a 6-1/2-inch circular saw; a jig saw; and a flexible floodlight, along with accessories suited for each. The drill/driver/hammer drillboasts a DeWalt-built high-torque motor (450 in./lbs. of maximum torque)for drilling bigger holes and driving bigger screws. This unit alsofeatures a unique three-speed transmission that produces a greater rangeof rpm for noticeably faster drilling and driving applications. Whenhammer-drilling into masonry, the maximum speed setting drills holes upto 33 percent faster, at a top speed of 34,000 beats per minute. TheDW938 reciprocating saw features a keyless lever-action blade change andpacks the power to handle the toughest demolition jobs. You'llespecially appreciate the tool's cordless feature when working inconfined spaces. The DW939 6-1/2-inch saw is equally powerful, with aleft-side blade for easy right-handed visibility. The DW933 jig saw'scounterbalance makes it a pleasure to use, while the four-positionorbital action lets you dial in the blade speed that best matches eachapplication. The DW919 floodlight lights up a work site's nooks andcrannies, and features a flexible neck you can use to wrap it around astud or rafter. These tools are being sold as an all-in-one set at aprice significantly lower than the sum of each tool priced individually. It's a top-of-the-line set--an opportunity for professionals to upgradeand for serious do-it-yourselfers to quickly build an excellent cordlesstool collection. --Carl Thress ... 1-0 out of 5 stars There are better kits available.
I have been a " DeWalt" user for years, and have been happy the entire time. That is until I purchased the 5 peice kit. It was purchased in September of '02 and I have had to replace the entire kit with the exeption of the recip saw.I doubt i will be making any more DeWalt cordless purchases. There ARE better kits at better prices.

5-0 out of 5 stars Power at your convenience
Tough call deciding to buy this DeWalt kit. At the time I did not need the reciprocating saw and if another manufacturer offered similar kit with cordless planer in its place then I would have bought the competitor instead. Good thing that it was also possible to purchase a 230V charger. Some things you don't think you will need until you have it, now every item has been used except the in vehicle charger. Tools are stored indoors and when taking tools to a job I would have to assess the job and decide what to bring for the day. Space is limited by a small stationwagon, as up to recently the tools only served for a home enthusiast, now they have to work for a living. Yesterday, didn't think I needed the mains Bosch reciprocating saw so it stayed at home. Trouble was there were wooden rail sleepers to saw up on site. None of the blades from the DeWalt kit would cut deep enough. Nevermind. Used the circular saw to saw cuts top and bottom. Finish off with the recrirocating saw what the circular saw did not reach. Well I was impressed. Or course it required a few changes of battery so good job I bought one extra on top of the supplied 3 batteries. Still have not used the vechicle charger yet. Next optional extras on the shopping list would be longer blades for the reciprocating saw if there is one, smaller cases to ease loading and unloading to the car.90% of the time I am only using the drill, jig-saw, and charger. I pray that DeWalt will come up with a cordless planer before I have to choose between Bosch or DeWalt. Better hurry up DeWalt because so far you are winning because you have an in car charger. Bosch has the tools I want although not collected into a kit form yet. But in all seriousness I would only need a planer 5% of the time and anyone getting this DeWalt kit won't be disappointed. Just like a well known advert, I never leave home without DeWalt.

5-0 out of 5 stars The ultimate tool kit..
I have been looking for an affordable but durable tool kit for a while, and this was well worth the money. The tools are made to work hard and definately help you get any job done right the first time.My first project used every single tool in the kit, and what a pleasure it is to swap tools/batteries in an instant. The round saw cut through 2x8's like butter, and the jigsaw made precision cuts for all of my trim work. The Drill is the best tool in the kit, because of the versatility in speed settings and high RPM which allowed me to drill right into concrete over and over again.
I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking for a great all-in-one package, and rest asure this kit will last for years... ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Here's a great collection of DeWalt tools that all use the same 18-volt batteries. The 1/2-inch adjustable clutch drill/driver/hammer drill's high-torque motor delivers 450 inch/pounds of torque for drilling with large bits and driving large-shank screws with no worries of lock-up because the third speed is 38 percent faster, with a range of 0 to 2,000 rpm. The chuck's carbide jaws won't let go of even the smallest bit. The DW938 reciprocating saw has nice ergonomics--good balance, a comfortable grip, and it's not unwieldy, even with the battery attached. We particularly like the keyless blade clamp that lets you change blades without touching the blade or reciprocating shaft. The 6-1/2-inch circular saw is one of favorites for its light weight, power and ease. You can see the blade on the left side, so you've got great cutting-line visibility. Want to bevel? No problem. And it's even got a rip fence. The right-angle drill has two speed ranges of 0-500/0-1,500 rpm for more flexibility and a max torque of 310 inch/pounds for large bits and fasteners. The nice long trigger lets you reach it even in the tightest spaces, and in case you need to back something out, you've got reverse at your fingertips. At 6,500 rpm, you'll get high power for all kinds of cutting and grinding applications. Trim rebar, steel pipes, and iron rails with ease. Wheel-changing is easy, thanks to the spindle lock, and the three-position side handle offers great control. We like the easy grip, the comfortable trigger switch and the lock-off feature. The flex-neck flashlight's wide-angle beam is brighter than a traditional flashlight, and you'll find all kinds of uses for it. A nice touch we appreciate is the spare Xenon bulb, so you'll never be in the dark. All together, quite a neat deal.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beware of the case
I was shocked when I got this combo kit. I was under the impression that all 6 tools in the combo kit would fit in the case. This was not the case. What I got was a standard 4 tool combo kit with a grinder and an angle drill in a seperate cardboard box. There is no case of any kind for the angle drill or the grinder. The drill I could live with but the grinder has 2 seperate guards, a wrench and the different grinding & cutting wheels. I think they should make it clear that there is no storage for those tools. As for the tools they are what you would expect from Dewalt

5-0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Dewalt Combo Set
The is the perfect cordless combo set. The battery life is EXCELLENT and performed a lot longer then I expected. I have used every tools except for the Cut Off Tool which so far took care of business. To everyone out there, because this is a cordless set, this combo is meant to do small to medium projects. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Overall...Pleased with the purchase.
I bought this kit after comparing Ridgid, Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Craftsman, (and of course, the lower priced kit from Black/Decker, Ryobi, Bosch, Skil, etc., but those kits I found in my area shyed me away because of longevity versus price.)
I found the Makita 6-1/2" circ. saw the best on the market. The safety button is definitly the easiest to use while holding it at any angle. The saw is very well balanced. Height, angle, and rip fence settings are very easy to do. On-board allen wrench storage makes for quick and easy blade changes. One drawback is the lack of a dust exhaust chute, causing the cut line to get covered (directly in front of the saw) after about 5 feet of ripping a 4x8 sheet.
The recip-saw is a well balanced saw also. It features tool-less blade and rest-shoe changes. The motors for both of these saws provide plenty of cutting power. The safety button for the recip-saw isn't as superior as the circ-saw is, as it can be more difficult to engage at certain angles. Being able to depress it from either the left or the right is about its only savior in those situations.
The drill is excellent. Very well balanced, and light weight for an 18 volt, (versus others I compared). Powerful, but slightly in need of a little more torque. Drove 3-1/2 and 4 inch screws easily while I was framing a house, but I did find it to have less torque than the Dewalt counterpart we were also using, but not enough that I would throw the Makita away and replace it with a Dewalt. Drill/Driver clutch lock-out and speed settings very easy to engage. Foward/Reverse switch easily located at the side of the trigger, (not like the Makita 9.6V stick battery drill I have).
The flashlight....well, it's a flashlight. What do you want ? At first I thought of removing it from my kit altogether, but it does come in handy when crawling into the dark voids of someones attic.
The case is nicely made, holding all the tools tightly in their spots, (even while rolling down the hill). Storage for recip and circ blades, as well as a (1) battery molded in. The other battery is stored by leaving it in the drill or the saws, but not the flashlight. Spot for the charger also, as well as some driver bits and a quick change coupler. A little extra room also allowed me to store small drill bit kits inside.
It would have been nice if Makita would put a third or even a fourth battery in the kit, but no other manufacturer I found does either. The 2 batteries are powerful, and long lasting though. Two should get you through a days work.

UPDATE: 2 batteries should be enough for a day if you are not constantly using the tools all day long. Recommend charging them at the end of the day to be ready for the next day, but not always necessary. If you are framing a house or something like that, you'll probably charge them once or twice (using 3 to 6 batteries a day, but that's the drill and both saws humming along). Consider getting another drill kit or something that is also 18V(2.6ah at least). I bought another 6347D drill kit, as it came with 2 more batteries and another charger. Better deal than buying everything separately.
Also, the drill that came in this 4 piece kit was made in Feb. 2003, as per the date code on it (date code is 03.02). I have had no problems with this drill what so ever. The date of the drill that was purchased separately is Nov. 2003 (03.11), and I have found that Makita had a bad batch produced during the end of 2003. I know of 3 other people that bought theirs at the same time I did, and had the same failure I did. Transmission broke. To be honest, the transmission probably had a flaw, but it broke when a co-worker was mixing (dry powder type) thin-set. He should have used a corded, heavy duty drill.
Next....If you're like me, and just couldn't stand the safety button on the recip-saw any longer, remove the lock and spring from inside the trigger housing area. Remove the retaining screws on the back "half" and the housing will come apart easily. I also took a Dremel grinder to the area where the battery is inserted, to make battery removal easier. A little too much plastic in that area when it was molded, and made battery removal difficult. An alternative is to loosen the 2 screws closest to the battery opening a little bit.
A note on the circ-saw...use a plywood/veneer blade (I think mine is 100 or 140 tooth) backwards to cut vinyl siding. Works great. Just put a scrap board underneath for support. ... Read more

This is a great package deal for serious woodworkers and carpenters who don't like messing around with cords. The Brute Tough drill has an ABS/vinyl housing designed to stand up to the roughest job site conditions and a Bosch-built unibody power train that contains the motor, gearbox, and clutch in one contiguous unit for durability and the best alignment possible. It has a two-speed gearbox that offers up to 500 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,300 rpm in high-speed mode, as well as a 16-position clutch, a tight-gripping ratcheting chuck, and a soft ergonomic grip. Woodworkers who like the smooth, accurate performance of Bosch's jig saws will appreciate the cordless model included in this package. It has a smooth-running Bosch-built motor that delivers 0 to 2,000 strokes per minute with a 1-inch stroke length. There's also a soft ergonomic grip and a great tool-free blade-changing system that allows for hands-free removal of hot or broken blades. The cordless planer is full sized, offering a 3-1/4-inch width and up to a 1/16-inch planing depth. It also has chip ejection to either side and a ratcheting depth-adjustment knob that allows for fine-tuning in increments from 0 to 1/16 of an inch. The planer comes with a parallel fence and chip collection bag as well. This package includes the Brute Tough drill, jig saw, planer, a one-hour charger, and two 18-volt batteries. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch cordless combo pack
As a person who was in the construction field I know which products will last, and which ones I wouldn't use if the Manufacturer gave them to me for free. My doubts about buying the drill, the planner and the jigsaw on line before I could actually feel the weight displacement and the ease of the buttons was dispelled the minute I opened up the box. This Bosch cordless combo set is truly a solid piece of equipment, I have no doubt it will last me for a very long time. It's a great addition to my tool collection.THANKS BOSCH & AMAZON ...
