not worth it
Was unable to deter any pest, be it dog, cat, squirrel, skunk, or bird when on animal repellant setting. Strobe light seems to work properly and acceptable, but the alarm seems to be either defective or falsely advertised since when triggered the pulsating noise seems weak and minute (on intruder setting). Proximity that is needed to active the alarm is far smaller than advertised, product description states 30 feet, but its more like 5ft. Overall this product loses three stars for not being able to control outdoor pests, but keeps two stars for at least being able to make some noise.

Very disappointed
This item doesn't work very well. For starters, the range of motion detection is about 4-5 feet, not the 30 feet claimed by the manufacturer.Once triggered, the sound and strobe light only activate for a short period (1-2 seconds) so that it's really not all that distracting for the racoons. It sounds constantly when it rains. And finally, it takes a long time to reset once it's been triggered.I purchased the unit to keep the raccoons away from my garbage cans, and it helps to some degree, but it does not keep them away permanently as I had anticipated.

Just bought the device, does not activate unless you are 6 inches in front of it. Don't waste your money
I read all the reviews wanting to believe that these would help me and crossed my fingers for the half that said yes, they worked. Tonight, I just caught another mouse in my room (where I've got two of these things plugged in). Earlier, I'd purchased one to cover a larger area and although it deters them, I actually think it caused them to run into my room from the kitchen to get away from the noise, as I'd never had them in my room before (In two weeks since buying these, I still saw 2 or 3 mice). not effective pest control

Excellent Pest Eliminator For Your Yard
I bought this earlier model Lentek Mosquito trap for my Mother's yard several years ago. She lives in a wooded area and the insects are very bad. She has mosquitos, biting flies, knats, you name it she has it. She enjoys working with flower beds and sitting outside on her porch swing, but the insects were so bad that she could not do this very much. After I set up the Mosquito trap, the insect population was halved in a few short weeks and almost totally eliminated within 8 weeks. When we have family gatherings, we can all actually enjoy the outdoors now.

First of all, this model was discontinued.I bought one for $169.99 a couple years ago.The thermal couple burns out in a year and you can't get a replacement because they don't make the part any more and it's design is proprietary.You have to get a generic one and "customize" it to work.Do not expect ANY customer service.They're rude and not helpful at all and once you've bought their product they could careless about you.As far as function goes, it doesn't really do that well on it's own.It'll catch a few mosquitos here and there.The problem is it doesn't use octenol which is a chemical attractant.I bought an octenol cartridge for another machine and modified this one to use it and it works great.Definately not worth the hassle.Look for another machine that uses propane and octenol.They're out there for less than this one and you'll be much happier. ... My experience with this repeller is negative: the mice are actually ATTRACTED instead of being repelled. It's been plugged for a month, and here's the result; we've never had that much mice before. Poor Performance

Great buy!
Since I have installed, I've never seen any kind of pest in my house (except me). It worked since the first minute. I'm very happy, my family also.

It works for me.
I am living in a fairly small apartment (less than a thousand square feet) and the device works nicely. I set it at high frequency in the first place. But I could still see a few roaches crawling around after one week. Then I tried the low frequency setting, and then in a few days the number of roaches was greatly reduced. In around two-week time all the roaches vanished. Now my place is free of the annoying roaches. I am verypleased.

I have owned the 4 bulb e-trap for over three years.Nothing worse than mosquitoes that come in the house - and the e-trap does attract and kill them with little fuss - BUT the bulbs do not last very long.The first time they went out Lentek sent me an entire replacement unit instead of just the bulbs.Another month went by and they too started to dim.I finally called customer service this year and was told 4 weeks was the average life span for the bulbs. . .so I ordered an entire case of replacements at just under [$$] each.Very expensive!But also the only gadget I have found that kills mosquitoes efficiently in the house without pesticides and such.It now makes me wish I had purchased the two bulb unit instead of the 4 bulb unit! ... GREAT stops birds from flying into windows
i had a very good experience with this product.bought one then bought six more and have had them up a few years now.they successfully stopped the challenge we were having of song birds flying into the picture windows.we tried the strips, the sonic thing (didn't work and i was scared of what else it might be doing) the hologrphic butterflys on suction cups (worked, looked goofy - blocked view and blew off in 1/2 a season) also tried the black silouettes of the rapters (they were creeepy looking i thought).this bye-bye birdie worked for us and i was just on here going to get the info for some neighbors and read these bad reviews and had to let people know that if you are trying to stop birds from flying into your picture windows and killing themselves this product worked well for us.

Bye bye is right!
This item is allegedly scientifically designed to deter birds from the general vicinity. According to the manufacturer:

It works fantastic!
I did an experiemnet with this thing.I went into the woods in the summertime at twilight with this device and another person with a spray repellent that we have all used camping and we thought worked ok, in Virginia.We tried to take a walk in the woods, but we had to turn around because my companion couldn't stand it anymore, and I didn't have even one bite.It is an amazing repeller.I also have used it in the redwood forests in CA in the summertime at dusk, where the mosquitos are vicious, and it worked perfectly for me there too.

This device is very good, I didn't had roaches, spiders in my apartment since 1997. However, after the black out on 2003 in new york city, my 2 pest contro devices stopped working appropiately. Therefore I am forced to buy 2 new pest contro's. Does Nothing Against Insects

We have one of these high end units on each floor of our house, plus many of the Lentek lower models.None of them work... at all.

A Waste of Effort
I have both this as well as a Weitech model. The gophers don't even seem to notice the noise, regardless of frequency setting. They are continuing to eat plants less than 1 foot away from the noisemakers.

poor construction
Regarding the other buyer's review of the construction issue, the tip on both units I ordered incurred the same problem, thus the watertight "seal" becomes faulty and water enters the unit.One of the units corroded from the water and stopped working within 2 weeks of installation.I now have gopher activity within 100sf of the working unit (installed 5 weeks), and in solid clay soil, which is supposedly the best soil for operation.So far, not so good.

Wonder worker!!
I was skeptical of this until I tried it.We had a regular mole interstate in our front yard.I planted this in the center of the yard and the moles have gone elsewhere.I've order two more to increase the coverage... but it does work wonders!!Read more

Doesn't work
There seemed to be less evidence of gophers in the beginning, but they are back as usual. I've been using it for three months.

Sorry, it doesn't work
I have tried everything to get rid of moles: castor oil-based repellents, grubicides, balls of fishing line, smoke bombs, car exhaust and these sonic repellents.The fact is: the only effective way to control moles is to trap (ie. English scissors) or spear them. These MoleContro's do seem to annoy the critters into moving elsewhere, but the effect is only temporary (lasting about two weeks).Even this effect is difficult to determine because moles change their digging patterns over time and you can't tell if the repellents worked or if they had just gone somewhere else on their own.In any case, after two weeks, they burrow up to and around the repellents with impunity.

It seems to work...
I installed the MoleContro in the flower bed last night.This morning I didn't see those eerie holes and mulch scattered everywhere.So, it seems to be working.The annoyance is that you can still hear the faint buzzing sound within 4-5 feet of the MoleContro even though the whole device is buried underground (with only the cap and ring visible).I guess I just have to tune it out somehow... ... Never Buy This One ...
This is one of my worst purchase @ AMAZON since last 4 years or so. The product pratically does not work ... drains only electricity.

A good power consumption device, but nothing more
I tried this device in my garage to keep out insects and spiders.After several months, there is no detectable difference except for a slightly larger utility bill. A disappointment
My wife is DEATHLY afraid of mice so that was our primary intention of this product. We plugged it in, but the mice still seemed to stick around. We killed a spider right by the device! Our house is small so it should have been able to handle it. I tried all the settings I could think of. Also tried it in different plugs. Hopefully you'll have better luck. ... Read more
