    Editorial Review

There are now enough handheld global positioning system (GPS) receivers on the market that you can be choosy when it comes to price, features, and design. Garmin--a leading manufacturer of car, boat, and personal GPS receivers--has a complete line of eTrex handheld receivers, with our Legend falling about midrange.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Small GPS, but PC Cable is behind the times
I've been using the eTrex for about 2 months. All GPS functions work marvelously. However, the PC cable is a 9 pin female serial connector.I haven't had a computer with this kind of connector for over 7 years.Since I wanted to download my datapoints to a navigation program, I bought a "Serial to USB" connector from Radio Shack for $40.After installing the connector's software, my laptop recognized the connector cable, but not the eTrex connected to it.Best bet is probably to go with the Garmin cable for $60.Which is outrageously priced. Why they can't catch up with the real world of USB connectors is a mystery. For handheld navigation though, it excels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent with the caveats noted........
.......in earlier reviews. It cannot pick up accurately if you are too close to buildings, under trees, etc, but i really dont know too many inexpensive GPS units that work under those conditions. For the price an excellent choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great entry level GPS
I'm very pleased with the accuracy and reliability of this GPS receiver. I've had to rely on the manual more frequently than I expected to and the mapping feature really isn't very useful, but for the price I paid, it's a great unit for my primary passion - Geocaching!! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or recreation easily, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or broth will still be hot. Or lemonade, iced tea, or a sports drink will still be chilled. Tapered toward the top and slim enough (11 inches high, 3 inches in diameter at bottom) to safely pour with one hand, it slips into a briefcase or backpack. Pouring is a snap--twist off the cup, which holds 6 ounces of liquid, twist the stopper a few turns and pour through a no-drip slot (there's one for righthanders, another for lefthanders) without removing the stopper. Fine threading ensures the stopper seals tightly, while the exterior has a handsome satin finish. The smooth interior cleans with sponge or cloth, and preheating or prechilling with hot or cold water is recommended. Read more

    • Keeps beverages hot or cold for hours
    • Holds nearly 26 ounces
    • Easy, no-drip pouring without removing stopper

5-0 out of 5 stars After I figured it out I think it is a very, very good idea
When I received this thermos, at first I thought there was something wrong with it.For some reason I had the idea that to pour you had to flip up the top. Finally I went to the Amazon.com website and read about it again, it said to twist and pour.So I put some water in it to try it, and voila it poured like a charm.Whoever thought of the idea to leave the cap on (thus retaining most of the heat, which would escape otherwise) had a very, very good idea. The only thing I would change is there would be more specific directions so dummies like me understand better how it works. After I figured it out there is no way this would not be a very good thermos, if not the best! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing!
i love this thermos!i fill it up in the morning with hot coffee and it will keep it hot all day.one time i accidently left it at work overnight, so i wasn't able to fill it up the next morning.i knew there was a little left in the thermos, and since i'm pretty much addicted to the stuff i decided to suck it up and drink bad, cold coffee.to my amazement it was still very warm (though not hot) and entirely drinkable!
4-0 out of 5 stars excellent product, keeps my smoothies frozen
works well, by keeping my smoothies frozen when I taken it for lunch. I have opened it after 3 hours at room temp to 80 deg, with the smoothie still frozen. Size is good also, not too big, about the size of a fifth of liquor, without the neck.Only wish the opening was a bit bigger/wider. Would buy again or as a gift. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very much satisfied with Weber Q 200
Brought mine last week and already cooked thrice so far. Excellent results, cant stop loving the Weber Q 200.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some limitations
This is a good grill. However, to be honest, it is a little underpowered when compared to a good full size gas grill. That's the sacrifice you have to make when you want portability. Also, because part of the grid is the deflector shield for the flame, there are parts of the grid that are not open to below and becomes hard to clean. Finally, there is no way to beat the power and flavor of charcoal, so I still use charcoal once in awhile even though I have two gas grill.

2-0 out of 5 stars Overpriced, underpowered, faulty
Our Q200 arrived with a faulty ignition system.Since purchasing we saw a review of this item in the local paper, and their's also had a faulty ignition system. We reported the problem to Weber which quickly sent out -- a replacement, but sent the part for a different model. So we are still lighting by hand. The Weber does cook food well, but remember that unless you spring for the Q300 you get only one burner, and no warming plates -- fine if you are cooking a few burgers, but a problem if you are cooking multiple items. It means that you have to magically cook everything so that it is done simultaneously in order to keep all items warm.I can only assume that all the positive reviews come from people who have never cooked with gas before, and are thrilled at the easy and even cooking that this, and most gas BBQs provide. But anyone with experience with a larger home unit providing multiple burners will find the Q Series a frustrating experience. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hot Stuff
We used this in a tent on a couple of cold Californial coast nights and were toasty warm.We would only need to run it for a few minutes at time.

4-0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR HIGH ALTITUDE CAMPING
The higher the altitude, the colder it often gets at night. The problem is the "low oxygen" safety system built into this heater. There is less oxygen at higher altitude and when I needed some heat above 11,000 feet, it wouldn't turn on.It seems to be a great heater other than this flaw.Mark ... This is a study grill cover for my Weber 200 grill. For $8, you can't beat the price.Sure, it isn't perfectly designed to fit over the gas adjustment knob, but it will still cover the entire upper grill. The grill feet is exposed. There is elastic band at the bottom of the cover to help keep a snug fit on the grill.

You'll be blown away by the light that comes from this little unit-—it's amazing. It provides a bright swath of light so much bigger than what we expected. Seven super-bright, 100,000-hour light-emitting diodes LEDs mean you'll never have to replace a bulb. We love its ergonomic shape and how it feels in hand. Even with its included batteries loaded, it weighs just six ounces. A helmet clamp is available to affix it to your headgear. We think this is the perfect light for camping, for police and fire professionals, electricians, plumbers (because it's waterproof!), and homeowners for when the power fails.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight 7-LED Flashlight
A lightweight, rugged, suprisingly bright, long-life flashlight.I sought out this kind of product after my old flashlight went dead on an overnight hike (my fault of course). This one has a 155 hour life and the bulbs (LEDs) never need replacing.Designed for use by firemen, it can take a beating.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad ergonomics
I've had this for several months and have not been very pleased with it.My frustration started on the first day, putting in batteries. There's no clue whatever on how to orient the batteries!Eventually I figured out that you need to put two in facing one direction and the other two facing the other way. (Maybe this is supposed to be obvious, but it wasn't to me!). The light is quite dim, even compared with other LED lights (my 2-AA Princeton LED headlamp is much brighter). My biggest complaint is the placement of the switch, at the back end.A flashlight is meant to be held in one hand, and turned on and off with the thumb. You can't do that with this: it's a two-hand operation to hold it and turn it on and off.Poor design!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good But Not Great
I had previously purchased 4 Streamlights, three for gifts and one for myself. I recently bought 2 more to have one in each location I might need light. I did not like the light these new Streamlights produced as well as the older ones. The newer ones is more florscent and will light up a room as where the older ones gave a great beam of light. ... Editorial Review

Most coffee roasters and tea buyers recommend using a coffee or tea press to enjoy the beverages at their best, but the devices have typically offered one major disadvantage--the brewed coffee or tea cooled quickly within the glass carafe. The Bodum Columbia thermal press overcomes this shortcoming with its double-walled stainless-steel construction, which insulates hot coffee or tea to keep it warm for up to two hours. The end result is a rich, flavorful beverage with perfectly extracted flavors and aromas.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Looking Insulated French Press with Lots of Capacity.
We used the Nissan Insulated French Press for years until we dropped and broke the press mechanism. The Nissan was a nice press, but we needed something with more capacity. The Nissan is 1 L & this Bodum is 1.5 L. Great! Also, the Bodum is visually a very elegant looking unit, whereas the Nissan is somewhat "industrial" looking i.e. "ugly"! The press mechanism on the Bodum is more refined, and there are much less coffee grinds and residue in the bottom of the coffee cup. So far we really like this press and it makes great coffee!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great press/carafe combo
No more having my brew cool before I am able to drink it. The seal is fairly tight, rarely to grounds get past it. If you've never had pressed coffee you're missing a real treat.
5-0 out of 5 stars We love it!
We've used French Press coffee pots for years - the glass ones with plastic lids.I kept breaking the glass beaker. And, I love my coffee extremely hot, which resulted in a lot of needlessly thrown away coffee that was lukewarm. And along came this new stainless steel themal 12-cup (well, it's more like 6 cups for us, as we use big mugs) coffee press . . .well, I am a picky person, when it comes to preparing and drinking coffee, and I absolutely adore this thing!I love the fact that it goes into the dishwasher with no worries about breakage.I love that it keeps your coffee warm for a pretty darn long time (even hot enough for me!).I love how it looks, how it cleans up, how the plunger goes down smoothly and rarely leaves coffee grains in your cup.If I've got to find something to complain about, I will mention two things - but they hardly count because once you're aware of them, it's not a big deal to avoid their effects:1.it's a good idea to make sure the arrow on the lid is pointing away from the pouring spout when the pot is sitting, as this keeps the heat in better; but do remember to turn the lid so the arrow is pointing at the pouring spout before trying to pour, or it will eventually backpour down the side of the pot.(but it's pretty easy to train yourself to do this)and 2. the lid gets pretty hot, so watch those tender fingers while turning the lid.I use the fingers with guitar calluses on them to do this, but you can always use a potholder or just do it real quick.I haven't found it to be so hot that it actually injures ya' anyway.OK, anyway.Love it; love it; love it.I do not regret spending the money. We've had this about a month now. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I Agree--The Best Charcoal Grill on the Market
The Lodge charcoal grill was the answer to my outdoor cooking needs. With nearly all its parts made of cast iron, this grill is made to last. It's easy to put together, and if properly cared for (don't leave it out in the rain!), will grill your steaks, chicken, fish or veggies for years to come. Its two-position grilling surface (just turn it over) is big enough for two or three people; there's a sliding draft door near the base, and a flip-down door on the side that can be opened to redistribute the charcoal. The Lodge Sportsman's Grill is easy to clean; like any cast iron cookware, the grilling surface should be scrubbed and re-seasoned on a fairly regular basis, but this is a small price to pay for such a fine product. This is one of the best purchases that I've made in some time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best little grill you'll ever own
I hesitated on buying this grill for 2 years and sure wish I'd bought it sooner. It is worth every penny and then some.Nothing cooks quite like cast iron, with its incredible ability to hold heat it sears and adds flavor to meat like no wimpy wire grill can.Since it's preseasoned, it cleans up like a dream as well.Maintenance is a piece of cake too, a little oil now and then will keep it in great shape through most weather.
4-0 out of 5 stars really holds the heat!
I've used this grill 3 times now and so far I'm pretty happy. My only gripe is that the drill holes to attach the bowl to the bottom were not properly machined (this always seems to happen to me when I buy things that require even minimal assembly). They left a nubbin of cast iron clinging to one of the holes so it was difficult to force the screw through the partially obstructed hole.Once I got past that minor irritation and got the base attached, the grill performs fine.Definitely do spray the grill with cooking spray (not over the fire, however!) or meat will stick, even though the grill is seasoned.

well i just bought the huntsman and was amazed by its weight. it packs a lot and weighs like nothing.i also own a leatherman wave but i found it awkward whipping out a huge piece of steel to open a bottle or cut a piece of string. so i decided to buy the huntsman for daily use and probably keep the wave in my hiking bag. it just weighs too much. i was also very happy that on each tool there was alreddy a thin layer of oil. it has all the tools that you will ever need without all the fancy stuff. fits nicely in the pocket unlike the wave wich felt like my pants were gonna fall off or it would break a hole in the pocket. the tool is also nicely shaped so it doesnt cut into you another bad for the wave. manage to buy it on fathers day for only [...], normally [...] overall this is a magnificent tool. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars perfect light, but give us flavors
I couldn't agree more with the sterling recomendations for the Stylus penlight. The sturdy Stylus delivers reliable performancewithout fail. Be advised though, that if you misplace it, even briefly, you will be so bereft that you will immediately want to order another. Avoid criticism by nosy parkers when they see a second order appear, buy at least two styluses to begin with (both the same color, eh? -- and three would not be too many). This foresight will be rewarded, then, as you'll have one at hand, even the the other one (or two) are awol. With amazon now selling the batteries, how could life get better?
5-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight 65018 Stylus White LED Pen Light
Since purchasing two of these lights, I have come to rely on them and use them almost every day. Wish I had gotten several more when they were on sale.Surprising how many times a flashlight comes in handy.I can easily carry this one with me wherever I go.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Good Light
As a police officer, I find this light to be very useful at nights in providing just enough light to write a ticket. It is nice white light that does not provide the glare that a regular flashlight does in this instance. I have found all of the Streamlight products that I own to be of high quality. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal grill for camping
While we've used Coleman folding stoves for years, if you have trunk space, there is no reason on earth to limit yourself to a small stove when you can grill with this wonderful tabletop grill. The small tank makes this practical for camping. If you want real barbecue while tenting under the stars, and you camp where a tailgate or a picnic table is available, this is a great choice for camping equipment. We still like the Coleman for boiling water, but I love barbecuing on a propane grill like this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little grill
We bought this for use at a beach house, the grills provided at the houses are always dreadful. It worked perfectly to grill shrimp, hamburgers and hot dogs.It is easy to transport and easy to use with very little assembly required.

1-0 out of 5 stars weber gas go anywhere grill going back in the box!
This "grill" is an oven in disguise. The first time we used it we left the enclosed large metal insert in place and ruined (baked)$25 worth of T-Bones. On our second attempt to grill on it we removed the large metal insert but the flames were so low that it was still ineffectual as a flamebroiling grill. There went another $20 bucks worth of beef! Not at all the happy grilling experience I remember from years ago with my original weber portable grill. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Grill.
I had seen the road trip grill once at a campground and knew I wanted one. I like it because it has burners like your home stove instead of one large traditional BBQ grill. Plus, the little stand works is great, I don't need an extra table anymore.
3-0 out of 5 stars Coleman Grill
The shipping was okay, but was surprised at the actual grill. Not quite what was expected, as it is more like a stove than an outdoor grill. It really wasn't what we wanted, but is working okay.Overall, the Amazon shopping experience was okay.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for campers/tailgaters/etc
We just received our Road Trip grill last week before heading to the woods of Maine for a 3 night camping trip. This grill was fantastic. We purchased the adapter hose and connected it to a 20lb tank. The grill lights with one push of the starter button and the controls are accurate. This grill puts out some serious BTU's - no issues with heat, that's for sure. The stove grate is a great accessory to have, as well as an extra grill grate. Both the grill and griddle's non-stick surfaces are as good as our expensive cookware at home. Some people may say this grill is "too heavy" but my wife had no trouble at all (she's tiny).Highly recommended. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Nice piece
Great, handy tool that I use around at the house for almost everything. I do wish there was a philips screwdriver along with, but I think I'll just het another model that has one. This scores big with me because it has most of the essential tools and is compact at the same time. Definitely worth the buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic.Perfect for the urban backpacker.
I purchased my Climber in 1991 and have enjoyed every minute of it.It was - and is still, as far as I can tell - the most compact Swiss Army knife with both the scissors and the corkscrew, the two attachments I felt were the most useful (to me, an urban backpacker at the time) after the two basic knives.I have given The Climber as a gift many times, with great success. The Climber is amazingly sharp, strong, and helpful.I love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice clasical
I've had my Climber knife for almost 14 years now, and it is as good and shiny as new. (And I bought it from Switzerland, not that this would make any difference).

Perfect for cookouts, tailgate parties, or car camping, Weber's Smokey Joe Gold grill is the classic traveling grill. With its 14-1/2-inch-diameter grate, the Smokey Joe Gold easily cooks three steaks at a time or twice as many burgers. The porcelain-enameled bowl and lid resist rust and deliver even heat. When it's down, the lid lock doubles as a lid holder, letting you slide the lip out of the way while you cook. And, when the feast is done, simply fasten the lid lock over the top handle, pick up, and go. As an added bonus, Weber throws in a 31-page owner's guide filled with cooking tips and time-tested recipes for grilling everything from pork chops to bratwurst to Cornish hens. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Smokey Joe
Great grill cooks quickly and evenly. There is a slightly larger unit that can be used for indirect cooking, but this one works just fine for steaks, hamburgers and the like. This is my third Smokey Joe and I will buy another when this one gets ratty enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars great little grill
This is a great little grill that Ibought for my girlfriend who lives in a small condo. Great for two people and when you put the lid back on and close the vents the charcoal goes out very fast and cools down so you can bring it back inside. Try this with the weber charcoal chimmney for quick grill meals and easy clean-up.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good value for the price but design needs improvement
A good value but the design needs improvement.By not having vents at the bottom, I feel the grill does not get hot enough. The side vents are good but bottom vents would result in better convection and a hotter grill. Not fun to clean as you need to pick up the whole unit and turn it upside down.Quality is excellent as usual from Weber. In any case I still recommend highly.

The portable Thermos Grill-2-Go offers on-the-fly grilling for people who like speedy setup, versatile cooking surfaces, and no leaping flames. Quick and simple to assemble, the Grill-2-Go breaks down into two tidy pieces for flexible storage and easy transportation. Besides its portability, the grill has several clever features, including insertable side tables (stored inside the grill between uses), a detachable grease receptacle with stopper, and storage notches for the spatula, tongs, and cleaning comb. Thermos has looked after the details, too. Rubber bumpers protect the lid if it slips out of your hand, and a built-in level tells you whether you're cooking on sloped ground. This adaptable grill suits the menu for any time of day--try eggs on the flat griddle in the morning and T-bones on the grill at night. Works with either a small fuel tank or a large tank with hose adapter. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Grill 2 Go "Advantage"
This is the newest Grill 2 Go model (May 2006).It is the "Advantage" model - 06401206.Bought this model instead of the Weber Q 200/220 portables based on a plethora of features G2G offers right out of the box, and it now has open flame grilling - a feature absent in the original G2G which will give food a grilled taste. The G2G Advantage model includes a portable rolling cart, the option for table top use (no cart), a hinged griddle plate that allows for 50/50 griddle/open flame use or 100% open flame grilling, Dupont teflon non-stick griddle, porcelain coated grill grates (dishwasher safe), a grill-based LED light for p.m. grilling (detachable for flashlight use), integrated paper towel and trashbag mounts (grocery store plastic bag), and a car window flag mounting point for display of your patriotic spirit or favorite team. The installation was easy, 95% of parts had good fit and finish (had to whittle two plastic control knobs with a pocket knife to fit properly on brass stems).Interestingly, there was no instructions on how to install the grease tray, but it is easy to figure out without formal instructions, and there is a cheesy little wire thingy on the back for holding a match to light the grill through a rear lighting portal (seems like it is included for liability protection).I plan to cut this off and use a long Bic lighter wand instead - if necessary. The grill lit on the first try with a portable 14.1 oz propane canister using the auto light knob on the front control panel - allowing open flame grilling over its large surface area or 1/2 griddle cooking. The folks at Thermos have significantly upgraded the G2G and at under $200 (My purchase price was $179) it is a great value in comparison to the Weber Q 200 series which runs over $275 when you factor in the cost of the optional cart that is not included with the Q200/220.Also, you can order an optional hose for the G2G (under $20) that will allow you to use a standard 20# tank which will save you money over the 1# cans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good product.
I've had one of these units for about a year. It's been very useful.Jump started my (seldom used) full size pickup truck twice, my wife's Honda Civic once. Also used the 120VAC outlet to make smoothies with a blender, just for fun.Plenty of power.A couple of shortcomings...The air compressor has very small capacity.Works fine for filling basketballs and footballs. But, when I tried to use it to blow up my daughter's inflatable wading pool...forget it.It would have taken hours...was much faster blowing it up the old fashioned way. Also, the jumper cables are kind of short. You have to balance the (heavy) unit somewhere in engine compartment, close to the battery, so that the clamps will reach the battery terminals.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent portable power source
This model is designed for car emergencies (it has a trouble light, jump starts a dead battery with its own suppplied very high quality cables and will inflate a tire), but we bought it for camping trips so we could power a regular fan on hot days and recharge our cell phones. It did both very well--running a good size fan for about an hour a day for five days and recharging four cell phones daily. Its a big lead acid battery in the shape of an old eighties boom box. Because it is essentially a car battery, it is fairly heavy (@ 23 lbs), but it has two sockets rigged to an inverter for AC devices and a standard car DC input. It charges up much faster than it says to expect from a wall socket--just a few hours, and is said to do so faster direct from the car; you get adapters to do both. We will keep it out in the open in case the power goes out.A great investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars power to go
I bought the xpower powerpack for powering some electronics on my Boston Whaler.I have been using it for about a month. It has been exposed to some harsh conditions, left out in the rain, exposed to salt spray, among other things. It works as advertised, and the battery life seems to be a little longer than spec.I have not used the air compressor.Everything else works like a charm. No problems to report.I would buy it again. ... These utelsils are great for the "Q" or the "Baby Q" grill or in a stainless steel themed kitchen. They have good tension and do not tear up soft foods if used properly. They are too short for use with a regular weber grill.
