Works great
Works better than I expected.I live on a lake in the southeast and used to have significant mosquito populations.Not the case after a year of this running.
Poorly engineered, cheesy quality
I was wary of buying the Mosquito Magnet because of all the lousy reviews about poor quality and reliability.True to form, mine ran fine for the first 3 weeks, but when it was time to replace the propane tank, I could not get it restarted.Kept getting a 'fault' light.Used the supplied 'gas reset tool' several times, and used several CO2 cartridges in an attempt to get it going - no luck.
Mosquito Magnet Liberty
A very wet Spring 2006 resulted in a very high mosquito population where I live in the Connecticut woods.About 2/3 of my 2.3 acre property is wooded,1/3 of the property is house/garden/lawns.In the daytime, there were lterally clouds of "no-see-ums" around my head joined by numerous biting mosquitos.The repellant that I used had to be renewed frequently.I was being bitten anywhere that I was not protected by repellant or treated clothing - even through heavy denim jeans. There had never been a season like this since we bought this property six years ago. I installed the "Liberty" at the end of June in the spot where I was bitten most frquently. I bought 2 and will buy more
My wife hates bugs, and I bought this for her. But I liked it so much I ordered another one and will buy more for my parents. The best thing about Bug Zapper is that you don't have to deal with the 'bug juice' (if you swat them), and you don't need to wait for the bugs to land and wait for your swat. I even used it near a bee hive, and it was the best defense against them. A few cautions - 1) don't zap yourself, it's pretty painful, 2) don't hit metal objects, you'll see sparks flying (incl. some windows - "Low-E" windows have metallic coating), 3) you can't kill fruit flies with this zapper since it has horizontal bars that these small bugs pass through. However, you can find double or triple meshed version on ebay or sharper image if you have the urge to kill all sizes of bugs. 4) some big bugs need extended roasting - I've seen a few biggies come back to life after a brief coma.
This is the one to get!Don't get the newer "safety" model!

Fantastic product, great company!
I bought this earlier in the summer on the recommendation of a colleague.I have a small vegetable garden and raised flower bed area that had been mowed down by hungry deer.The scarecrow works great at repelling animals and preventing destructive behaviors.
Raccoons & Skunks don't come around anymore!
I'll be honest. I was skeptical, to say the least. I was desperate though. We had a newly seeded back lawn and within weeks of the grass germinating, I woke up to dozens of holes in my yard (turned up grass from raccoons and skunks digging for grubs) on a daily basis! After trying pellets soaked in "Coyote [...]" (supposedly the racoons #1 predator) and many other tactics, I decided to try the 'Scarecrow'. My first one broke after 4-days. It wouldn't stop spraying every 3-4 seconds. However, I have had the second one hooked up for over two months now and my lawn FINALLY looks good again, because the Scarecrow has been protecting it from my neighborhood pests! I highly recommend this product. Well worth the money. Now that I have detered the pests from my back yard, they are trying to dig in my front yard. I am contemplating buying one for up there as well. The only "bad" thing I can think of re: this product is that I constantly have to undo my hose from the product to water potted plants, etc. But, it's worth the trade off.

Much Better than Octonal in Miami Florida
I used both the Octonal and this Lurex3.The Lurex3 works far better in Coconut Grove, Florida.

Definate must for Asian tiger mosquitos
I bought my Mosquito magnet last year with out the lurex and it caught nothing. I changed the location as per the instructions but still nothing.Finally I stumbled on to this poduct while searching for something else and now I won't use the mosquito magnet without it. I use both attractants in my magnet to be on the safe side. It does work, but it takes time to find that right location.I live in The DC area. This lure lets me go out in the back yard again.

Everyday it catches 50-60 mosquitos (75% regular 25% Asian tiger), Obviously mosquito population is decreased in our back yard because we are not having mosquito bites any more. If you want to kill some serious bugs don't skimp
This thing is the mother of all bug zappers, this is not a toy.Don't buy one of those cheaper 1/2 acre models, if you want to kill some bugs then just do it and quit screwing around.I bought this mainly to kill European Hornets (they look like yellowjackets except they are huge and are active at night, they are attracted to light and they would pop at my windows all night).They do sting and it hurts worse than any bee or wasp ever has.The first night I used this thing is was like a bloodbath.Over 20 dead European hornets in one night.To put it in perspective, it took a whole can of Raid to kill two, yes two of these things.They will not die, Raid just pissed them off and they would fly away!The second night it killed over 30 hornets.Every two weeks another batch of workers is born and they are completely wiped out in 2 days with this thing.I don't have a bee suit so I am not about to go looking for their nest unless they are still here next year.If they are then I'll spring for the full body armour bee suit.

Does what it's supposed to do
There are two ways to measure the quality of an insect zapper. First, how powerful is it light? That will determine from how far away insects will be attracted. Second, how powerful are its "shocks"? That will, of course, determine what happens to the hapless critters. The Flowtron BK-40D performs both of these admirably.
Noisey and Kills squirrels.
I purchased this item a few weeks ago to mainly kill fly's. It seemed that this wasn't happening as there were fly's still around and no evidence of fly's being killed. At night there would be a lot of flying bugs getting zapped though the noise would make you jump every time. It scared my Labrador Retriever to the extent she would not go outside after dark. The final straw happened when a young squirrel laid dead underneath it with no marks on it at all, I could only figure that it had got zapped. Absolutely Genious!
When I bought this I was slightly skeptical, but was willing to try anything. We weren't infested with mice, and had up to this point never even seen a house mouse. But we started to notice one little guy running the length of our hallway at night while we were relaxing on the couch. He was a cutie, but I knew we had to take care of the problem before our one little cutie turned into dozens.
Excellent Purchase
We had a mouse in our kitchen and did not have the heart to kill it.We set these traps and within 4 hours we had caught the mouse.We baited it with a cracker and he walked right in.It was also very easy and clean to release him.Would recommend if you are not in to killing the mouse but want the mose removed neatly.Also was perfect because I have a cat but did not want the cat to eat the mouse.The trap kept the two seperated.

Worked for us!
We caught several mice at one time with this non-lethal trap, and it was easy to release them from it. Although the instructions say no bait is necessary, we got fast results by putting a little bit of seed into it. They're just asleep
We have children and this is safe and easy to explain to the kids.The mice/rats go into the hotel and go to sleep.It's that easy.It's clean too because you don't have to touch the critter, just tip it into the garbage and it's ready to go again.We love it!

This product does not work
I know there are many people who've posted excellent reviews of this product, and that's what I based my decision to purchase on.However, I have a fairly small yard and no matter where I placed the bug zapper, we were still swarmed by mosquitoes.The zapper did seem to attract a lot of moths and beetles, but those weren't the bugs we were trying to get rid of.I would strongly not recommend this product.

Kills the wrong bugs!!!!
What a waste of money.This type of device has been proven to kill the wrong bugs!!It does not attract mosquitos or black flies or gnats or no-see-ums.Only the bugs that eat them.Consumerreports had show this evidence conclusively.

It scares the dogs
I bought this for out on the patio, where the dogs sleep, to try and kill the bugs but its so noisy when it's zapping the insects that the dogs are scared to stay up on the porch while its running. When a large insect gets in there it can make a loud zap for a long while.

SOLD A BILL OF GOODS, RIPOFF
Warning to all potential buyers!This product is a total farce.I bought four of these and placed them way closer than the required maximum distance.And yes I put brand new Duracells in these things.The moles actually burrowed right next to thems.Save your money and buy the old fashioned traps that actually kill the moles.These things don't work.

Scares moles away
I bought this product about a year ago and it worked great.Unfortunately, I placed it at the edge of our lawn and ran it over with the lawnmower, breaking it instantly.After ours broke, I waited to order a new one.I told our neighbors about my success and they all bought them, since ours was broken the moles all moved back to our yard.Needless to say, I bought a few more.They work very well, you do need to put the battery replacement on your calendar for every 6 months.

Mole attracter !
I have fought moles for years. I have tried poison pellets, gassers, the old water hose, etc. and nothing works. (I have not set traps because I don't want to dig another hole in the lawns.) I bought the Molechaser. I was taken in by another dream seller. Hills popped up less than three feet from the new device. Save your money. Even at half price, it is a rip-off!!!

Jeez, I can't believe these things are still for sale

Can You Hear Me Now?
Maybe this works--I've been having a running war with the local raccoons and squirrels. Every winter they invade our attic which is large and odd shaped and really can not be sealed off. I've used live traps and caught a bunch (mostly raccoons) and taken them across the Missouri river to a Wildlife area so they can't be coming back. BUT, there are always more to take their place, location, location, location. Once the raccoons have their kits they will move hell and high water (good moms). I've tried using different repellents with little effect. I did not really expect this thing to work and it is not 100% but it has been a big improvement. When I first got the thing I aimed it at my cats for a test(nice guy). They were not pleased but they also really did not leave the area. I put it up in the attic in the fall and just leave it on. I do go up and aim it in different directions from time to time. The good news is no one has set up house keeping so far.The end of February early March is prime for the raccoons to give birth so "maybe" I won't be running a nursery this year. Prior to this year the raccoons moved in to the attic in the late fall/winter. Sometimes there would be "turf wars" one could scare them away but they would return. So far the only intruders have been the squirrels but they do not seem to stay. They seem to check it out but choose to leave so it has been an improvement for sure but again not a 100% solution. Now the bad, it makes noise. Not real loud but it can clearly be heard in the hall, our bedroom (just a wee bit) and most of the upstairs depending on the aim, just depends on placement. I leave it on all the time so the noise is not a great thing to have a bit annoying, but the critters are much worse. Again my cats in true form could care less (so that is sort of good, we are not trying to run them out of the upstairs) but I guess it makes enough noise in the attic to be a pest to the pests. ... Zapped exactly as promised!
I was heartbroken to have to purchase this product, but our elderly cat died a few months ago and the vermin must have been waiting for their chance. The thought of poison, glueboards and spring traps revulsed me, and I considered live traps but I think releasing rats in the wild might be a public health violation. Anyway, I kept seeing evidence of at least one rat in my kitchen, and when I read about the Rat Zapper it sounded like the most-humane, permanent solution.

Bought Rat Zapper from Gameman21 - came in three days and mouse killed in first half hour. Terrified of mice so was pleased to find product that could kill without my handling. As I write this - zapper went off so have second mouse. Best purchase ever!!!!

Try something else...
I bought these granules because I have a problem in my yard with a woodchuck and a baby bunny. I followed the instructions and it looks like it might have actually worked on driving the woodchuck away. However, the baby bunny has no fear. I think he laughs at me every time he sees me sprinkling the stuff and then he just hops on over to eat all of my perennials. I'm giving this product 3 stars only because it seems to have worked on the woodchuck. Otherwise, it would be zero stars.

Great product and customer service
I must disagree with the review that state that the website provides no route to a refund. Though the website states that it is being revised, there is a toll free number listed. I called to inquire about a refund because initially the product wasn't working for me. Though the agent was more than accomodating about providing a refund, she also took the time to ask me how I'd been using the product. As it turns out, I was applying it all wrong. She talked me through how I should use it, and it's been working like a charm ever since. It takes a little bit of time to begin to work, but it was worth the wait.

Thank Heaven for the Mosquito Magnet Defender
We can finally eat dinner after 6 o'clock on our deck in the mountains without being bitten alive.We told our neighbor about the Defender; they purchased one; and now we have increased protection.
Don't buy this
I purchased the defender 2 years ago and now it does not work I would consider an item of this price to last for at least 5 years.What do you buy today that does not last 5 years?When calling the technical support center I was advised to send it in for a reconditioned one fo $175.There was no help offered - no serviable parts.I got the impression that this is what happens after 2 years of use.Concsider that your maitainance fee for this product - every 2 years you will pay 175 to this company for a refurbished one. Over 5 years this product will cost you $700 and a lot of grief.I believe their main business is refurbing old units.

Buy Flowtron Instead
I agree with the other reviewer, buy Flowtron instead. My Flowtron 40C lasted 20 years with the same bulb and never had a clogging problem with bugs. For the same price, the Flowtron 40D is a much better buy.

Get off on killing insects!
As I roamed through the vast depths of Home Depot.I came upon and light which shown down on the Stinger UV-40.My eyes light up like a child on Christmas morning.I raced home to try the product out at approximately 6pm.Without hanging the unit up, which violates the warnings in the instruction manual, we zapped numerous insects.Currently it is 11pm and we have a pile of bugs reaching to the heavens.This product is highly recommended because it decemated the entire insect community in the 80210 zip code while offering hours of entertainment.

Not impressed at all!
I recently bought the Stinger UV15. It worked well for one month! In that month I followed the recommendations for cleaning it and keeping it clear of dead bugs. Well just shy one month and the grid has completely failed so it attracts the bugs, but doesn't kill them. This product is not worth the money! ... Read more

Not so sure
I sprayed this product in my backyard, and heavily around my patio. The scent was not as strong as I had expected, and quickly faded. For the first day, it seemed to have worked - the mosquitos that would hover around my dogs in a little cloud while they waited to be let in had disappeared. The next morning, however, the mosquitos were back, in about the same concentrations. Although I have seen many anecdotal stories about the effectiveness of this product, I did not have such an experience. This was a waste of my money. I would strongly advise potential buyers to think twice before shelling out $30.

It Works!
I live in California, and I know that mosquitos are not as bad here as they are in much of the country.That being said, I had basically quit using my patio because I was tired of bites and risk of West Nile.I also dislike using nasty chemicals that eradicate all life from my yard.I sprayed my yard (10K sqft) with Mosquito Barrier two weeks ago, and have not seen a single mosquito since.I'm sold! ...
